I noticed a weird, fleshy growth forming near the corner of my eye. It’s not painful, but it feels dry and irritated, especially when I’m outside in the sun. I’m starting to get nervous—could it be something serious like a tumor or just a harmless irritation? Has anyone had something similar?

Could be a few different things, especially if you spend time outdoors. But it's smart to monitor any change in your eyes and see a specialist if it persists.

A few months back, my cousin developed something that sounds exactly like what you're describing. It started as a mild redness and evolved into a noticeable growth on the sclera. After an eye exam, the ophthalmologist confirmed it was https://myvisioncare.org/disease/phlegmon pterygium eye disease. This condition is more common than you’d think, especially in people exposed to wind, dust, or UV rays. It isn’t cancerous, but it can get worse if not treated. She was given anti-inflammatory drops at first, and eventually had minor surgery because it began affecting her vision. So if the growth is enlarging or irritating your eye constantly, I’d suggest not waiting. Better to catch it early before it becomes a bigger issue.
