Have you tried random chat while traveling?

Do you use random video chats to connect with people from places you’re visiting? Can it make travel more exciting or does it distract?

I actually love using random video chat when I travel. It’s a fun way to get local tips directly from people who live there, or just to have a friendly chat when you’re in a new city and don’t know anyone. Of course, it’s not a substitute for exploring in person, but it can add a nice layer to the experience. Sometimes I even met locals who suggested hidden spots I’d never find in a guidebook. I usually go on omegle because it’s quick and easy to connect.

I tried it once in Spain and ended up getting restaurant recommendations from a guy in Barcelona. It actually made my trip more fun and personal, so I’d say it can be useful.

I think it’s distracting when I travel. I’d rather be outside exploring than sitting on my phone or laptop. For me, random chats are more for downtime at home.
