I used to check my 3D and CPU marks when I first got into building my own computer and such, nowadays though the points are kinda just about bragging rights and hold no significant value..true benchmarks of applications or games are a bit more interesting to me.

Hi synbios,
At least I got one reply to post ;D I agree with you, I dont even try to keep up with the latest big bang £££`s graphics cards and mobo`s. . At the moment trying to get a good stable platform with best results for what I have.
I just keep tweaking away and learning as I go along.
cheers

Ah yes indeed I used to use it as relative performance for myself. I used to change system settings such as disabling Windows services and also if I overclocked a little bit I would check the difference in scores that way. Most of the games I play have an fps option so I use that as a pretty good measure as well.

i tend to run this benchmark for the eye candy than for the results

i especially like this particular edition from a good few years back that has a semiaerial view of the ocean...with
churning waves with sunset in the back....would be great if the developers can release it as a screensaver

maybe one day i'll use camtasia to record the sequence then use that to assemble a ghetto screen saver
