Scripts Update.
« on: June 20, 2010, 05:03:42 pm »
1.
What is the best way to perform a scripts update?

ie.
About > Check for updates
or
About > Update scripts (this appears to always download scripts, regardless if up-to-date or not)

2.
After scripts have been downloaded, does the 'Build search profiles...' operation commence automatically, or is a restart of BitChe required?

The best way to update the scripts is by going to About > Check for updates. If either a program or script update is available, it will say so. If you manually force "Update scripts", it will always download the latest script pack, whether you have it or not, which in most cases is unnecessary.

If you have "automatically check for updates" enabled, you don't have to do anything, and every time you start Bit Che it will let you know if either a program or script update is available.

You do NOT need to restart Bit Che for script updates, but you do have to restart it for program updates (which do not happen very often anyways).

Note: all of the use-contributed scripts that are found on the forums are collected by Chip and released as a pack periodically that are updated through the 'script updates' in the program, however it is often faster to simply, manually add a script that you made or found here on the forums rather than waiting for the updated/automated script pack release.
