texasboy:
The following was a question from a friend. Can anyone see a solution?

This one should get you thinking. My pc in Spain died last week so I had to get a new one. here are the problems

1. the oem vista home that was on it was in spanish. i fdisked the machine and put my old xp pro on it.
2. all the drivers were in spanish and for vista.

So how can I work out where to get the network driver to get back on the net.

on boot up it say the motherboard is an intel marvell 88se61, its a quad core q6600 processor with 4gb ram. its got a gforce 8500gt.

If I could get it on the net, then I could work out the rest with pitstop.

also when i go into dos shell and type ipconfig it wont give me an ip address.

This is all i've worked out so far.

Any thoughts
cheers

I'm not sure, don't have enough info from that alone, if you don't mind sharing a lot about the computer you could post the output text file from:

    Start > Run > msinfo32<enter>

    File > Export

But you might be able to figure enough from that on your own.

Tks Quantum,
Was wondering if it could be as simple as. Assuming the cd for WinXP Pro is in english and he has the KEY on the cover. Would it be possible to do a clean uninstall of Spanish HD and reinstall XP which would have the basic drivers in english and these could be updated? Would there be any conflict.
cheers

Quantum:
Shouldn't be any conflict at all.

If you're using the key from the version of windows you're installing, then it doesn't really matter.
