Mouse troubles

Hi all!

The new Dell laptop came and although we managed to get it all hooked up and ready to go, it does something odd. The pointer will hover over something and after a few moments, will automatically click it. Without me touching a thing!
I never changed the mouse options to do this and thought it to be a very strange default. At first it seemed really cool until I was doing something important and it just automatically closed it out.

I have windows xp home edition on it and wondered if it was something I could take care of myself without an hour long Dell conversation.  ???
I looked it up online but have not been able to find an answer. Thought I would ask you all.

Thanks!
luv

Is it a mouse or a tracker pad? Are you sure you're not just very lightly tapping the tracker pad?

If it is the tracker pad do you get the same behavior with a USB mouse?
Daniel: "This tastes like chicken."
Carter: "So what's wrong with it?"
Daniel: "It's macaroni and cheese."

Umm it's a tracker pad and I don't know if the mouse would do the same thing. I haven't tried one but I know we are not gently touching it because I tried it from across the room.  ???

Have you looked in to the settings of the tracker pad / dell's drivers or control panel?

Have you asked dell?
