well i myself really like windows media player when it comes to arranging and managing your music. its more of a well conditioned music library. but if its about ease, i'd go for Gom player

Everything you play on the gadget is marvelous. Gaming is outstanding with the distinct graphics and hundreds of addictive games available for download, another reason why it is so popular among teens.

I don't know how useful this will be for you guys, but I have run MediaPortal on everything from Windows XP to Windows 8 and it works on all of them. It's now the preferred solution on my Media PC, which the family uses to watch TV shows and movies.
