The term
listas iptv first appeared in 1995 with the founding of Percept Software by Judith Estrin and Bill Carrico. The protocol for developing an Internet video product is called IPTV. IPTV is a high-speed omnidirectional (multicast backbone) transmission line and is compatible with applications such as Windows and Unix based on audio and video sources from a unidirectional (unicast) and omnidirectional (multicast) transmission line. This switches from low quality to DVD, using both unicast and multicast IP addresses called Real-time Transport Protocols (RTP). This software was written by Steve Casner, Karl Auerbach and Father Chee Kuan. Cisco Systems purchased the copyright for this protocol in 1998. Until now, Cisco maintains the IPTV brand.
