I choose Azureus because of this -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BitTorrent_software
interesting stuff
-
Its gotta be µTorrent. I did use Azureus before, but as soon as it treid this, i uninstalled Azureus. Its so light on resources (uses 6/7MB of ram max) yet has all the features i need. You can skin to look how you want as well, as the default skin is pretty ugly.
Its so good i dont think i could use anything else ever again ;)
-
I use Azureus because we have it set-up on a server that we can access with the web interface.
When the µTorrent web interface comes out of closed beta we will probably use that due to the significantly less system resources it uses.
-
Azureus! I love everything about it. Also the SafePeer plugin :)
-
definetly utorrent, nothing even compares to it.
-
wow I wasn't even going to include µTorrent but thought I read about it somewhere maybe so I put it in... maybe I should take a look at it?
-
I've been using utorrent for a while since they banned bitcomet everywhere. It seems to be fine, I don't really use any of the advanced features anyway and it's pretty fast too.
-

no harm in trying, it just runs from the exe so download and run. then if you dont like it just delete it.
-
How can anyone vote for BitComet? It's really gone downhill! I get no speeds of it at all anymore

yeh its been banned on alot of trackers as well, although that bug was fixed. id rather use Azurues than that
-
yeah I switched from the comet to Azureus
-
hmm.. i still really like bitcomet.. its seems to straightfoward and simple/clean... but i gave uTorrent a try and it seems to be pretty good.. the color icons showing the status of the torrents are kinda bugging me, but it would be fun to do a sidebyside speed test on the same torrents with the top few torrent clients.. anyone up for it and post their results?!
-
after trying i few torrents programs and not getting anything (speed, connection. etc.)
i gave up. then i tried µTorrent and it rocks... great speed...

you can skin it so it doesnt do that, or its an option somewhere.
im up for a speed test, µtorrent always gives me good speeds
-
Is there any evidence that some clients are faster than others, or does it depend mostly on the peers available on the particular torrent? It would be cool if someone really tested it.

That would be awesome if someone tested it........I think moreless it has alot do with your settings(i.e. max connections, upload speed) and your peers(peers connections speed, seed & leechers)......I use Azureus and with the config wizard it sets the max connections per torrent at 70 but If I'm only running one torrent I jump it up to 100-120 connections and sometimes I'll get speeds of 200kBs+ for brief moments.....Otherwise with 70 connections my max speed has been 160kBs........
-
Bitcomet is known for only loving peers which are using bitcomet.
-
I downloaded µtorrent today then after 30 to 35 minutes of tweaking and understanding and going to http://www.isohunt.com/ (http://www.isohunt.com/) to search for a file off the top off my head, I give it two thumbs up. :)
Take a gander below:

hi guys
i have my own server,i use azureus to upload and utorrent to dwnload.on a personal note i use utorrent on my pc as it doesnt use that much system resources like azureus does.so for me utorrent is tops.nice looking, easy to use and fast dwnloading.

its a bit of both and the set up of your pc.if you have mega ram and say 3 gig chip then use azureus as it wont make that much difference to the pc.but if your on a older or slower pc then you would use utorrent.2.4% system resources used.but then again it will also depend on seeders and leechers and the torrents you dwnload.
-
I still use bitcommet and havent had any problems with speed
-
Help needed ,
Completely new to torrents(always used Frostwire). downloaded Bit Che and after reading notes on this thread also downloaded utorrent. Managed to get a download started avoiding 0 seed entries. Max download speed is abt 30kbps whiich is poor for this pc. Yes I am on the older family pc 1.3ghz cpu server is 100mbps and i have 10mbps broadband. pc is clean but probably could do with another 256mb stick of ram. On frost wire my downloads are 100-400mbps,so what am I doing wrong.
The speed tests that these programs run are laughable, from 2mb to 8mb speeds for this pc. Maybe I should run from new pc upstairs. Probably not setting up utorrent correctly. Any thoughts????
cheers
-
The speed of your pc shouldnt really affect the speed of your downloads. Take a look at this guide for setting up utorrent
http://www.utorrent.com/setup_guide.php
-
Tex you got a router? You need to open a port on your router and configure utorrent to use it.
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm here is instructions for opening ports on almost
every router made
-
utorrent has a speed guide. you should try running that tex
-
voted µTorrent.
-
Thanks you lot. It was the port forwarding that seems to be the answer. But setting up static IP address and having to change 3 pc`s in house is a little bit daunting. I printed out the instructions which are easy to follow and i| will try again when my head is on straight. ::) Always afraid I will balls up my normal internet connection. Still managed to download from utorrent and convert to dvd even though it took 4 hrs.lol
cheers
-
I have been able to skip the setting up static ip step on mine. What's your model number for your router?
-

Netgear WGR614 V4. Used WGR614 as ver 4 not listed. but have a feeling that I may already have a static address. NTLWORLD WINXP SP2 10MB broadband. Dont want to have a screaming match when internet stops on daughters laptop ;D
Will have a go tmw.
cheers
-
yeah for me the static ip was the ip of the router and the address to access the admin page
-
Thanks for you help Danny. Hope you get Billies Rooney sorted down to size ;D
cheers
-
uTorrent is an excellent client for people behind routers because of it's excellent UPnP support. If you have UPnP enabled in your browser, you don't even have to port forward. It's also just a really clean and quick client to begin with.
uTorrent is definitely my favorite, that's what I voted for.
-
I will agree on uTorrent. Very minimal system resources. With the correct network connections, you can get torrents and a reasonable speed 50-200kbs, and still surf the internet fine. At least with my settings I can.
-
I really like µTorrent. Fast, small, and simple. I also like saying emphasizing the "µ" part ("mooooo"). ;D
-
Ha Ha Ha, forgot about the "mooooo"
-
µTorrent it's the best ...is light .. ;D ;D ;D
-
For me is Azureus but its using a lot of memory if its playing a lot time
-
I made the switch from bitcommet to utorrent. Its very easy to use and it seems to use less memory than bitcommet
-
i also used to use ABC or BitComet, but since i discovered utorrent, i cant imagine changing.
it's fast and easy to use.
-
After using µTorrent I am fully converted :)
-
I love my uTorrent! I've heard grumblings that uTorrent as well as others either has or is going to get bought out... What is the Safest Torrent Client?
-
Very complete info from wikipedia at this link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BitTorrent_software
;) ;) ;) ;)
-
uTorrent WebUI, I can add torrent to my home PC from work!
-
doubtlessly utorrent ;D
-
i use first utorrent and second limewire.
-
utorrent
why would you use anything else
-
I use uTorrent because of its low memory usage. Used to use Azureus but it slowed everything else running on my pc down.
-
From experience with using all of the above BitTorrent clients,
I found different options and features in each of them.
For a long time I only used BitComet, it was the best until uTorrent came along.
But now the latest versions of BitComet are bloated with useless features and ad banners.
BitComet still has something that uTorrent doesn't have, better DHT support.
BitComet has the best DHT support if you are downloading a torrent with no peers or the tracker
is off line then BitComet sometimes can still download it whereas uTorrent can't.
uTorrent is my choice. It's simply the best!!
Thanks. :)
-
anyone tried Halite (http://www.binarynotions.com/halite.php)?
-
uTorrent for me...tried nearly everything out there.always come back very simple to understand.
-
I have improved uTorrent only...
-
Yep. uTorrent for mee too, is simple, have a lot of informations and so on. The best for me
-
It used to be Azureus for me, but now with the newest version there is too much useless, not to mention resources draining stuff in it and even adware, so on some friends advice I started using uTorrent, which is what Azureus used to be a few months ago :)
-
Ok in my opinion utorrent is the best client at the moment. I am a sysop on a torrent site and most other clients can be hacked or you can cheat from them to show a different ratio. This is why you will find that most are banned. The idea of torrenting is to share back what you have taken to the community, and not to steal.
DHT should always be turned off, by this it means it does not open the file to the whole world and keeps the tracker private. you never know who is looking.
Keep it safe...

-
Gotta give Azureus my vote :-*
-
nothing but utorrent and utorrent ipfilter updater
-
uTorrent closely followed by BitComet.
-
uTorrent it is ;)Tryed nearly everything, always trubble untill uTorrent came in my life. It's simple, fast and in dutch
-
in response to DC's halite question
SuperFundo ...recommends the following clients:
- BitComet (for newbies, or anyone)
- Halite (light, but no RSS support)
- Frostwire (inspired by Limewire...
the above is from a topic i transplanted here:
http://convivea.com/forums/index.php?topic=1228.0 (http://convivea.com/forums/index.php?topic=1228.0)
potentially dangerous clients and sites (from superfundo.org)
-
BitSpirit the best 8)
-
µTorrent 1.8.2 is very faster
-
Which is your favourite BitTorrent Client?
My favourite BT Client is Azureus Vuze.
-
I choose Azureus because of this -

Thank you
The issue of values
-
i use utorrent in vista it is giving me maximum speeds for my connection and its so light on resources aswell
-
u torrent is the fastest on the earth
-
Tried most Torrent clients but nothing beats µTorrent for very light system resources. Simply the best client out there. Let hope they keep it small & light forever.

well you know wot they always do....improve it, and make it big and clumsy.....
-
My favourite is still BitComet
-
So, I'm installing µTorrent right now...I really hope this thing is cut out for what it appears to be.
-
i prefer µTorrent
-
i am using utorrent and it fully satisfy me
-
µTorrent 1.8.2 is very faster
Indeed I uninstalled Azureus several months ago and I've been using µTorrent since then and it works much faster and uses a lot less CPU!
-
bitcomet ...bitcomet ...bitcomet ...bitcomet ...bitcomet ...bitcomet ...bitcomet the best.
-
Deleted my old vote and voted for µTorrent!
-

Bravo 4 uTorrent... two thumbs up!
Add the speed 4 it with this free apps call, "uTorrent Ultra Accelerator"
Happy Download and Happy End Year 2010.
-
the uTorrent.
-
frostwire (http://"http://www.downloadfrostwire.org/")
-
Deluge (http://deluge-torrent.org)
Deluge all the way it has a block list and full 2 way port encryption
-
bitlord and mutorrent are the good ones and have very ease access...Azerus used to top one as far as i know, for both seeders & leechers. But it uses java and thereby slows down the system performance.
-
Did not want utorrent toolbar [sad]but it still loads itself so I deleted it and now use qBittorrent its good with no frills. :)
-
I've been using BitSpirit for years and have been very happy with it.
http://www.bitspirit.cc/en/ (http://www.bitspirit.cc/en/)
-
I gave up on uTorrent quite some time ago once they started including spyware and ads.
qBittorent or KTorrent are great options. There are plenty of free and open source options available. No reason to use something with spyware.
-
Long time no see Synbios,
I'm still with uTorrent v2.02 when I realized all the xtra shit that came with the newer versions I just simply reinstalled an earlier version. But I'm gonna check into those two you mentioned anyways.

uTorrent 3.xxxx is great once you just disable all the ads via the advanced options menu do a search for "sponsor", "upsell" and "404" you can disable all ads, including the one along the bottom of the menubar...
start here: http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Sponsored-Ads-from-uTorrent
-
I recommend qbittorrent or tixati.
-
deluge treats me right! >:D
-
qBittorrent..is the best and its fast not to mention extremely stable. I stopped using "uTorrent, BitComet, Tixati and so on cause they are to well known and sluggish for me but "qBittorrent I have been using for quit some time now and would consider it over any other client... Try it for your self....
-
I use qBitorrent the best client out there... I like it because it is less known and least popular and is better than all listed here for sure...
