a program that strips DRM off of tracks purchased from the Zune Marketplace, or traded via Wi-Fi has been released. What makes this more significant is the optional Zune subscription which allows users to download almost all the Zune Marketplace, and then remove the DRM.

first run 'mirakagi.exe' to read your keys.. then run FairUse4Wm.exe to unprotect the content you'd like stripped.
EDIT: yes, it works. incredibly well. removing the DRM from your files takes about .00001 seconds each.

would a firmware update stop this? if they know about it...

well apparently this crack works for Windows Media DRM for Windows Media Player 9, 10, 11 and Zune.. basically everything. a forced firmware upgrade would be possible on the Zune device, but MS will have to re-do all of their software, re-encrypt all of their music, etc.. with a completely re-designed DRM solution which probably isnt going to be very easy considering the crackers have really got that current DRM under control right now.
