Title: Summer is here
Post by: dinner123 on July 21, 2006, 08:10:44 pm
Its that time of the year again, schools across the UK finished yesterday as 6 weeks of holidays officially began. Weird thing for me is that after my exams finished a month ago, we had to go back to school to begin the second year (A2) of the course. I felt like it was time for a holdiay back then, and now i just feel weird.

Anyway, what im wondering is what everyone's doing for summer? Foreign holidays, just relaxing at home or god forbid you dont even have some time off :(

Im going to Prague in 2 weeks for a few days, parents booked it last minute. But other than that i need to work on my UCAS (ie.University) application, because ive only got 1 year of school left now. And then its off to uni (hopefully ::))
I gotta go and pick up my AS exam results on August 17th as well, 3 weeks away :-\

With the weather so good here at the moment 24-30C and Europe higher 35-45C. A foriegn holiday would not be pleasant.
So it will be a couple of weeks in Scotland. Ice skating for the daughter, sight seeing for the wife ,and lots of "may I have a pint"and a bit of fishing for myself.
Maybe another week in Nice France around Haloween if the funds hold out.
cheers

so that means no sheep either?

Summer sucks for me. I am taking summer school so I can get out early. That wasn't really a bad choice becuase if I didn', I would just be sleeping all day on my lazy ass. On the bright side, it means that I will be less pressured to have to take lots of classes in one semester. The torture will be over next week. 1 more week and I am free from the hell hold of economics. What are your summer plan's?

Thats actually not too bad. 14-16C during the day and good sleeping at night.
Humidity is high. I think I could live with this during winter

Think of some of our members.! The Half and Gibbler can tell us more.
New Yorkers swelter in 'dangerous' heatwave

A state of emergency has been declared in New York where a heatwave has brought misery to the city.

Temperatures have hit 38C (101F) with humidity making it feel even hotter. The city's streets are stifling, and Subway passengers sweated on platforms before stepping gratefully into air-conditioned trains.

New York has not experienced such a heatwave, described as "extremely dangerous", since July 1999.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared the first official heat emergency in the city's history and the scorching temperatures are expected to continue. He has ordered city swimming pools to stay open late.

Nearly 400 special cooling centres have been opened where passers-by can escape the heat and receive cold drinks and medical aid.

An extreme weather front has caused more than 100 deaths over the last week as it drifted across the US from California to the East Coast.

Officials are desperate to avoid a repeat of the crippling blackouts suffered in Queens two weeks ago.

The lights on the Brooklyn Bridge and the Empire State Building have been dimmed so as not to overburden power supplies, and offices have been told to turn down their air-conditioning.

Almost like Texas on a warm summers day.
I can remember standing out in torrential rain at 96F in shorts ,and being dry 2 min after rain finished. I guess its not easy for people who dont have air conditioning and we all dont want anyone to suffer
cheers

Don't get upset! There are plenty of way outs. Nowadays, there are many sources to get a company. You can search for groups of interests on FB or go visiting a dating app, for example. I'd recommend you elite singles free (https://blackdatingsites.net/elite-singles-review/) dating app. That's where I met my friend from Germany when I was travelling Europe. Anyway, there two more months, cheer up and good luck!
