I did sign up but never received an activation email so it wont let me in even though it will let me recover my password via email.

Yes, that must be because the past was not correct.
I think pass must have 8 characters, numbers and at least one Uppercase. They showed the instructions when I failed, but in German, so I suppose that. I could've use google translator too...
