WOW! That's so coooooool!!!!!
Thanks a lot! You rule!

But Unicode doesn't work for me :( (Russian). Instead of russian words it shows something like "oooeeeeiiaaaa".
(I mean - in search results).

Yeah, it's a recognised problem it doesn't work in Win2000 atm, Chip is getting it installed on his computer so he can test and see what's wrong with it.

good news.. I was able to figure out why Bit Che was crashing on Windows 2000. The problem was with the file packer that I use with Bit_Che.exe. After a response from the author of the file packer, I was able to pack the Bit_Che.exe in a way that no longer creates the error with Windows 2000! :)

Please re-download the installer:
http://www.convivea.com/download/bit_che_1_0_60.exe

Because I did not make any changes to the actual Bit Che application code, I am not going to change the build number.

Thanks,
chip

What causes the results to be out of whack like the attached image?  Are the scripts grabbing the wrong columns of information?

Also, on this new version, it is not showing any of my Coffee Cups even though the files are all still in the coffee sub-folder.

I have the exact same problem with the SIZE COLUMN as MartinElk. Does anyone know why it is like this? It won't show size if the torrent includes more than one file. INstead you get </TABLE><B. It just can't figure out the size I guess? If it's just one file it will show the size.Never had the problem before build 60. Tried to install the 59 build again but now it is the same there. Annoying.

BTjunkie script has been updated.Please overwrite this script with the btjunkie.ini that is located to your bit che/scripts folder (Open bit che/ file/ open add data folder)
You can also use this thread to collect them all http://convivea.com/forums/index.php?board=13.0

It seems to be the Btjunkie script that fails.

How can I solve Unicode problems in search results?

Thank you!

for now its not possible to use unicode but you can make a script to convert unicode characters to english like.For example:
you want the abcd that is unicode to be ABCD in eglish.Before the start in the script you have to write:
d=replace(d,a,A)
d=replace(d,b,B)
d=replace(d,C,C)
d=replace(d,d,D)

This is a good trick for now

how deos the portable thing work?
Title: Re: Bit Che - 1.0 build 60
Post by: chip! on April 03, 2008, 11:54:44 am
To use Bit Che as portable:

1. Make a new folder on your USB Drive (or where ever you want to run Bit Che portable)
2. Open your installed Bit Che.
3. Go to File and select "Open App Data Folder.."
4. Copy all the files and folders from this folder to the new folder you made on your USB Drive.
5. On your USB Drive, open up "settings.ini"
6. Under the section "[options]", add a new line that reads "portable=1"
7. Copy your Bit_Che.exe from your installed Bit Che ("C:\Program Files\Bit Che\Bit_Che.exe") to your USB Drive folder.
8. Now that you have Bit_Che.exe and settings.ini in the same folder on your USB Drive, you may run Bit Che from there and it will work as a portable version :)

need more help? let me know!  ;D

What OS are you running?

Is there an error message or does it just not display anything?

And, is the Bit_Che.exe process still in the Task Manager after you launch it ?
Title: Re: Bit Che - 1.0 build 60
Post by: iconoclastees on April 14, 2008, 11:46:38 pm
I am running win xppro ver 5.1 w/sp 2.

It does nothing when double clicked...

I opened task manager and went to processes and watched while I clicked and it bit che.exe appears and then disappears on the top of the process list. I did this several times annd each time it appeared and then disappeared each time using varied amount of memory depending on how quick it disappeared..

I noticed that the consoled appeared briefly a time or 2 and I minimized task manager and clicked and it opened long enuf to select english language and shut down..

i have some problems with the new version.
it seems, that the app cannot write, or even create the settings file. all the settings starts default, on every start it asks for language (and it can't set it to any except original).
i'm using winME. can u help me? thx.

yeah sounds like it should be able to be fixed..  when you go to 'Open App Data Folder' from the File menu of Bit Che, what directory opens for you?
Title: Re: Bit Che - 1.0 build 60
Post by: contle on May 03, 2008, 05:15:39 pm
When i select 'Open App Data Folder', nothing happens. There aren't too much functions working: the language choosing form appears but it can't take effect, the options set are only remembered while running, it can't remember for registrating, and it can't even search for torrents :(
if there isn't a trivial solution, can i have the 59th build back? [rolleyes]

i tried the portable version also. installed on a XP (it worked), and i tried on my ME, where it couldn't read the ini file and couldn't write either. Can it be fixed? ::)
Title: Re: Bit Che - 1.0 build 60
Post by: chip! on May 12, 2008, 03:09:40 am
hi.. im sure it can be fixed. but if the portable version failed in Win ME, then i'm probably going to have to setup a Virtual Machine for Win ME and see what is failing.

for the time being, I will create a mini-debug .exe that you can run on your Win ME machine that might be able to detect the problem. i'll post this for you in the next hour.

contle, when you get a chance, please run the attached file and then Copy the output, and paste it here as a reply or send me a PM (if you want).

thanks :)
Title: Re: Bit Che - 1.0 build 60
Post by: chip! on May 19, 2008, 06:08:03 am
well.. with no reply from contle, i went ahead and got a WinME setup to run the debug tool myself and found the problem.  :)

and so i dont forget, Write/Read Unicode INI API does not work on WinME, so I will have to revert to standard ANSI functions for WinMe or earlier systems.
