Post by: texasboy on August 17, 2008, 05:12:58 am
;D  Yes folks the start of new season and you will all guess that I am having a BLUE,BLUE  day. Chelsea  4 Portsmouth 0.
Everyone said the team was too old. >:D including some Red team that seemed to struggle against Newcastle ::)

Still the season is early and you will all have your comments as we go along.

:o What a load of old cr*p from Man U tonight. Rooney on a zimmer frame and Fletcher  has more deflections than Billys elbow. They will need to buck up their ideas soon unless they want to be relagated. ::)

I personally think, Man City will not even break top 4. You can't buy a team that will gel together. Chelsea bought some big money players yes, but Shev didn't even make the first team most of the time, and Mourinho brought the team together, keeping players like Terry who were already there. Can't see the Abu Dhabi guys doing that.

Look out John Terry is about.lol  CHELSEA just had a little practice game with Bordeaux tonight. The BLUES could only manage a 4-0 win against the french. Still it might help lift them up to the standards that Man U have set this season. >:D

17 Sep 2008

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed anger at the decision to overturn Chelsea captain John Terry's sending off last weekend.

The Scot believes the appeal verdict was influenced by Keith Hackett, head of the Professional Game Match Officials Board, and not referee Mark Halsey.

Ferguson, quoted in The Times, said: "From what I have heard, Keith Hackett has told the referee to rescind the red card and he wouldn't do it. If it had been a Manchester United player, Keith Hackett wouldn't have done this."

He added: "If the referee has made a mistake, this is going to happen all the time."

Terry is now free to face United this weekend.

;D My oh My. Looks like CHELSEA may have to find a little extra on Sunday to match Man U great performance tonight against Villareal. 0-0.
Still Man U is still no 14 in premier league table, only 6 from the bottom and relegation. >:D

With all those world class players,I`m sure they will claw their way back to at least the top 10.
cheers.

And Tex quietly says to Billy, "you know I`m enjoying this.lol"

It's ok, we'll just sit here for a while without seeming threatening for a few months before people realise (again) that whooops! Arsenal just took top of the table!

But until then I'll just sit back and watch all the ManUs v Chelseas talk  ;D

oh and I just have to add as an Arsenal supporter - Tottenham?  ??? [LOL!] [wink]

;D Well Billy NWM got his first wish, Arsenal are already top of the league today, but they have used up 5 rubs at the genie lamp. Chelsea still have a game in hand ,and Man U have 2. *correction only 1 after sunday >:D

Should be a very interesting season with lamp-pardner rubbing the genie.
cheers

And dont despair all you Man U  fans, even though your team is 15th in the league and only 3 away from relagation, you will survive (sometime.) ::)

Well what did I tell you? Quietly sail into 1st haha. Still a long way to go and a lot of teams to face, have to wait until November to face ManU, Chelsea & Man City... until then, the unfortunate Hull City is going to have to make their first trip to the Emirates.

Carling Cup starts this week! I hope they actually show it here.. nice to see our under 18s take apart some first teams  ;D

edit: No it's not! How do you watch your P2P Football billy? Haven't done it in a while, any decent programs/servers?
Title: Re: The New Unofficial UK Football Page
Post by: billyfridge on September 21, 2008, 07:01:57 pm
I haven't found any decent servers yet B..

the Premiership is lookin very interesting, what with Man City coming into money, and Robinio,  Liverpool posing more threat. I might even go halves with my son on his Sky installation, and get Sky sports, then with my Virgin Media Setanta sports, I'll be able to watch all the games.  ;D

did you see my post.....>Funny thing, I watched Man United v Liverpool today on P2P football site, and on screen it said Setanta sports. I subscribe to Setanta sports, but it wasn't on my list, so where the hell did it come from ?........

any ideas?...America, Australia perhaps, ???

Not a great start to the season for Man U.lol

Rooney's fuel fiasco

The Manchester United star and his wife had to be rescued after he filled Coleen’s £90k 4x4 up with the wrong fuel.

Multimillionaire footballer Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen were rescued from the M62 in Cheshire when the customised Overfinch they were driving sputtered to a halt.

Turns out Wayne filled up Coleen’s super diesel bling-bus with unleaded petrol. According to the Mirror, the couple’s car gave up between Junctions nine and 10 at Warrington, with plenty of rubber-necking had by a number of passers by.

One motorist told the Mirror, “The traffic was running slow, so we got a good look. The hazard lights were flashing and Wayne was talking to a Highways Agency patrol driver. He looked pretty sheepish.”

A member of staff at the Burtonwood Services, where the couple stopped to refuel, told papers Wayne was the one driving and it was the footballer himself who got out to refuel.

Needless to say, Coleen didn’t seem very impressed with her new husband’s mistake. The cost of flushing an engine out to repair the damage caused by putting in the wrong fuel can be prohibitively expensive. But perhaps not for the Rooneys.

The tabloid-happy couple aren’t short of a ride, however. They reportedly own, amongst others, a Lamborghini Gallardo, Bentley Continental GT, BMW M6 and an Aston Martin Vanquish.

cheers

For those of you interested in football. Chelsea have just beaten Portsmouth 4-0 and Spurs won their first game in the carling cup games. I guess Spurs are just getting ready for Man U. >:D
cheers

Yes yes I know.

To be honest though, they played very well and we played only ok. They got a bit of luck... but they used good tactics.

Arsenal strikers just not onto it! van persie had shots left right up high down low anywhere but in the goal. Gallas of the post, Ade missing too... Vela tripping over the ball from 2 yards... just one of those days. But Hull will definitely be in the Prem Division next season, they are fighters.

;D Is there any truth in the rumour that Aston Villa will make Chelsea squirm tomorrow. All the bookmakers have Villa to win.
Me worried. >:D
cheers

Update.
2-0 for Chelsea at half time.
Second half under way, and some changes to report. Aston Villa have brought on James Milner and Carlos Cuellar for Luke Young and Curtis Davies. Luiz Felipe Scolari has looked to underline his authority by bringing on a child - Franco Di Santo is on for Anelka.45+3' Blimey. Chelsea are playing absolutely brilliantly, and goodness only knows what Martin O'Neill will have to say at half-time.  ;D

It`s all over.

90+4' Devastating stuff from Chelsea, who have absolutely destroyed a highly-rated Aston Villa side. Ominous stuff for their title rivals. Luiz Felipe Scolari's side look absolutely fantastic.

You know I have to cut in here. Just finished watching highlights of Arsenal v Spurs and the last few minutes were a treat. Sloppy defending by arsenal and Spurs played on as a team inspired and never gave up. They truely deserved the points. This should inspire them on future games.  Maybe not just Arsenal but Man U will not make it to the first four.  Too many teams  causing tears. Would have been worried about Hull against Chelsea but managed to get by.
As Billy said we do not have enough members following UK football on the forum. Its a shame as a little bit of extra input would be helpful, any more Chelsea fans out there, help. >:D

Maybe because you didn't watch the whole game... but Tex spurs did not deserve a point from that game. They didn't play very well for 90 mins... and then some sleepiness at the back and a 4-2 89th minute scoreline is a 4-4 scoreline in 90+4. I really don't think they deserved a point just for playing a good 4 mins of the game.

Either way, we should have bloody won it!!

Hull will slip Tex. They're doing well, and getting the points based on attitude. If you have confidence within your squad it can go a long way! But you wait until they lose a few (they don't have a good enough team to stay up that long), they will drop quickly when they lose that confidence. But I still think they'll get a mid-table result, which for a team I had never even head of until last season, is pretty good!

Play Stoke tomorrow. If we don't win that, I can agree that we're lagging a bit far!

What do you reckon of Liverpool? They have a strong team... streak? Or will they be a proper contender this time?

Your Ar*e (am I allowed to say that)  Arsenal were beaten fair and square. You let the guard down thinking that Spurs would be a walkover, and you paid the price. If Spurs can get 4 past the line then  someone failed,or they were just out to show that they could do against a somewhat top premier  club.
Liverpool will be up and down causing many upsets along the way,but in my mind this is the Chelsea year.
cheers

Arsenal 2-1 Man U

What a game! The most exciting game I've seen this season.

The last time I'm betting against my team though... I bet on Half Time/Full Time, one bet on Draw/Arsenal, one on Man U/Arsenal.

As soon as the game started I thought... damn it... it's going to be Arsenal/Arsenal.

Oh well, back on track. Lets hope it sticks!

The Carling Cup has only been running since 2004 is is of no real meaning . Just another cup for the glass case. It is interesting to note that Chelsea have won this twice and been runner up once, all in just 4 years.
Carling Cup Final
Cup Year League Cup Winner Cup Final Score League Cup Runner-up Cup Final Venue
2008 Tottenham Hotspur 2 - 1 aet Chelsea Wembley Stadium
2007 Chelsea 2 - 1 Arsenal Millennium Stadium
2006 Manchester United 4 - 0 Wigan Athletic Millennium Stadium
2005 Chelsea 3 - 2 (aet) Liverpool Millennium Stadium
2004 Middlesbrough 2 - 1 Bolton Wanderers Millennium Stadium

I see you managed it once but didnt feature in any other finals. >:D.

Still at the end of the day Arsenal is made up of professional players who should be  working together to make themselves the best. Possibly somewhat similar situation with Spurs before Redknapp took over? The players ,when they want to, can cripple any manager and as a result lose games.

Cesc is captain... he is my favourite player (have a Fab4 shirt), and so I think this is great. I hope the pressure doesn't get to him as he's only 21, but aparently Tony Adams was made captain when he was younger than Cesc... not that that's anything really to go by  :D

It's $5 (or, 5/1 in the way england does their betting) on an Arsenal win, $3.5 (7/2) on a draw.

These are the highest odds I have seen in a while for an Arsenal game. I'm put off betting now though, but this is tempting!

I must admit that I have no idea how this will go, which should make for a good game :)

Just as long as Bendtner DOES NOT START!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still surprised that Chelsea didn't actually score a goal, I thought they would get 1 (Chelsea's goal was own goal).

It was offside, but the reply clearly shows it hits Cole before going onto RvP, I thought that's why the ref gave it in the first place?

Either way, I put Fabregas on my shirt for a good reason  ;D

Well I think I have to.

I really believe the manager has to take the blame for that loss. What was he thinking?

HOW THE HELL did Bentner play for 90 mins? Other than just generally being terrible, he had the worst game I've seen him play. Ramsey had a great game... but no took him off... and put on 5 defenders!

You cannot go down and continue to play with 1 striker (which was Bentner, so in actual fact we had NO strikers). I just don't understand it.

That was not the Arsenal team I support, terrible passing, terrible defending, simply no attacking, awful free kicks, and surprisingly terrible tactics!? I don't know how Jay Simpson stayed on the bench, he should have come on for Bentner at half time... And Vela should have played striker??? Why did he stay in the midfield when we were losing???????

A lot of ? after that game  ???

Well we were already through, and it is true that it doesn't matter if you were first or second, either way you will face strong teams. I still think wtf on that performance though.

BUT!

Speculation is that Wenger will sell/loan Bendtner in Jan (now that Eduardo is back) :)

I think I agree with Wenger, if we had 11 men we would have won.
Even the commentators were confused as to why they didn't put on another striker as soon as Ade was sent. Were they afraid of us???

Well the game wasn't shown here... but from what I've heard, Bendtner tapped in the goal, but was still crap. Apparently Vela changed the game when he came on?

The Hull game is on here this weekend so we'll see.

and for the record I just hate the way he plays. I think he could be really good if he was to just stand on the penalty spot at be a target man, he is a really good header of the ball. It's when he floats about and tries to pass it around that he screws up... I know Arsenal are a passing team, but I just don't think it works with him. Bring on Eduardo!

::) it's no wonder people call him E-boo-eh. I don't think I've ever seen something as stupid.

Man U playing steady, it's all you really need to win the league I guess, steadiness, and that's what you've had for the last few seasons.

Chelsea have the problem which I thought they might have, Scolari being a (good, but nonetheless) national team coach for so many years, and now is thrown into a long season - it's not like the world cup! I thought he would drop off towards the end of the season, I think we're seeing that now. And what happened to Deco??

Villa look to be steady, I actually think it will be Arsenal v Chelsea for champions league, Villa 3rd, and then Reds v Red Devils for Champions.

All I want is Arsene Wenger to stop being so damn stubborn!

Ha! Someone must have read my post and not yours billy, Scolari has been sacked!

Even though I criticised him and said he didn't have the staying power to win the league, I don't think they should have sacked him! He just needs a bit of top club experience... and he is a good manager! Had they just left him I think he would have been 200% better next season... And switching managers just makes things worse for the rest of this season not better!

Chelsea for relegation? Maybe! And now Ade (playing with no effort???) is out, Eduardo is in, Eboue is out, Arshavin in, we're going to take that Champions League place off ya.

Ah right... so Mourinho was crap?

And Capello is worse?

I support British coaches... but I would never say the best ones are British haha! You've got Alex, Moyes, Martin. I'll say they are good British coaches. Southgate, Keane, weren't too bad. Any others seem to be fired faster than they are hired.

I just think these owners should wake up and have a look at teams that are most successful long term; they have managers that last more than 6 months!

What is Ambamovich playing at anyway? Avarm was doing ok, Scolari didn't deserve to bit ousted that fast... what is he looking for? People say another Mourinho... but he left because Roman was pushing him into things he didn't want to do? It's not a way to run a football club and I wouldn't be surprised if other managers see that - they did at Newcastle.

Pah. This crap about Cesc spitting... I know I'm bias but it really does seem like some kind of sore loser attack on Arsenal. It's funny the amount of pictures showing up of Arsene Wenger shaking Brown's hand (which apparently has never happened at any game according to the Hull boss). The media is really criticising Arsenal? We seemed to be not liked for doing well at the moment, I'm sure that won't stop us though. But really, the media is really pushing the Cesc spitting thing (to the point where they just accuse him of doing it, and ridicule Cesc's response) as well as the commentators of the game (i watched it on Sentanta online - found a free stream whoopeee) seemingly anti-Arsenal too.

I even saw there was an article saying that the Arsenal fans have hated Gallas until he scored that goal...? What a load of rubbish. He's been brilliant since he is no longer captain. Quiet and a rock in defense. In fact I even was happy to see Toure come up to Gallas after the game with a big smile and give him a hug, exchanging a few words. Another thing which the media really piggybacked on making a huge deal of - but I don't see any stories about them seeming to be fine with each other after this game?

Pah.

Onto Newcastle  8)

Although I just realised I cropped it at a crap point because you only can half see that star. Meh.

Billy, you think Fergie will pay 32mill for Tevez? I think he's worth it... but not with the amount that he plays at Man U. I think he's one of the best strikers in the world, but seems to be 'that good player on the bench' since Berba came along.

I don't think he will. It would be a shame to see him at Real Madrid, I think they are the wrong team for him.

I don't think he will. It would be a shame to see him at Real Madrid, I think they are the wrong team for him.

Like the Champions League draw Billy? Seems very nice for us, plus a chance at a ManU v Arsenal semi final if you can beat Porto  ;)

Not so good for Chelsea... first Liverpool, then Barca or Bayern, then ManU or Arsenal....  ;D

Looking good for us Banana....LOL

;D Strange world out there at moment.
Man U/Chelsea/Everton all lost today. Arsenal won.

But the best news was that Ireland won "The Grand Slam" at rugby . What a game it was with Wales. Nail biting stuff. Brilliant!!

A little note for NWM. Yahoo sport covers all the Aussie rugby including "the super 14"
cheers.
note---notice I`m not picking on Billy/Man U tonight. They have enough on their plate. >:D

I'm not a rugby fan. Besides all I hear of here is Aussie Rules. Now THAT is a game I just do not understand.

Geez... we were doomed from the start, what a weird line up. + Fabianski?? Did he have too many bday drinks? Blah.

And what was up with that pitch???? It was worse than my old school pitch!

I think Arsene Venger spoilt that game with some bad player decisions, and he was aided and abbetted by the goalie. some of the Arsenal players had their usual tantrums [rolleyes]

4-4 what a game! Although a shame we didn't win it. I think Benitez should be worried the team have let in 8 goals in 2 games? Although I suppose we've let in 6...

No luck this time. Poor Gibbs I say... had he not slipped the game could have been quite different, took all the sting out of the match.

I just laughed when the commentator was talking about the bench. Who could Man U bring on? Giggs, Tevez, Berbatov. Who could Arsenal bring on? Bendtner. Pah.
And I still don't know why Wenger decided Bendtner for Walcott was a good idea? He keeps making that terrible sub! And the ref, HA! I think both ManU and Arsenal fans will agree he was just pathetic.

Oh well, another 90 mins of defending for Chelsea tonight?

Poor Tottenham Hotspurs........they keep trying to beat Manchester United, but to no avail [wink]...I just watched the game today. Man U outplayed them all over the pitch. We even had Paul Scholes sent off for most of the second half ( for his usual bad tackling ) but that didn't make any difference  [rolleyes] Harry Rednap had Luca Modric, and Roman Pavlychenco on the bench, and didn't even play them....bad mistake....Harry must be losing his touch.....he he he.

C'mon you REDS.... [clap]

Do me a favour and thrash City next week eh billy?

Project youth is failing, Wenger says he will admit it has failed if we don't win anything this season. All I will say is I don't see him actually admitting it <_<
