i am trying to fix a used laptop my daughter bought, i have fixed a few things, but i am stuck on 'security certificate' s sl or something. i get a text box saying 'the certificate expired in 2010' wtf......
when i aquire a certificate through the link in the text box, it says 'certificate installed' but i still get a box saying 'certificate has expired on a date in 2010???????
any help will be apreciated ;D

You really need to explain in what program or context you're getting this, if windows is messing up, just boot from a linux live disk, copy over all the files you need and then re-install windows.

laptop running win xp....security box pops up on some internet applications like trying to access email etc

Thanx Quantum, I seem to have sorted it now...the reason the security certs were out of date, was because the computer clock was set at 2019 :o, and the rest seemed to go ok when i downloaded all the microsoft critical updates.

All I have to do now is find her a cheap wireless Broadband thingy, the laptop has got Bluetooth all over it, so i'll check that first
her mobile phone is O2, and their stuff is expensive. she doesn't want a land line.

Yes I did Tex Thankyou. Her prob now is to get on broadband, I tried to set her up with Virgin Media, but she owes something when it was NTL, so they want her to pay that, plus a £100 deposit. If she stopped tarting about in night clubs, and her nightly bottle of wine, she could afford it. But, what do I know? I'm only her long suffering dad. LOL
