Title: More sites?
Post by: Quantum on June 19, 2006, 07:43:05 am
I was just browsing through the Firefox extensions and noticed a "Torrent Search Bar", it uses these sites:

*Newtorrents.info
*Bitenova.nl
*MiniNova.org
*MonoNova.org
*Meganova.org
*TorrentReactor.net
*TorrentSpy.com
*BushTorrent.com
*BtBot.com
*ThePirateBay.org
*Btjunkie.org
*Bitorrent.com
*Bitoogle.com
*Flextorrents.com
*Demonoid.com
*Fulldls.com
*Isohunt.com
*Orbdesign.net
*Seedler.org
*Snarf-it.org
*TorrentBox.com
*torrentportal.com

Any worth adding?

When I was first selecting sites to include for the basic sources of Bit Che i noticed many sites seemed to share a very similar database of torrents, especially considering some only index other sites, whereas some are actual hubs like PB.. so.. I'd love to include some more sites if they dont cause a considerable overlap/duplicated results..  basically we're just going to have to do several generic searches on the different sites and compare the results to see if any of these other sites have a significant amount of new torrents.. hopefully we can get some more user feedback on this.. thanks for the list!

Ooo, that gives me an idea. You could add an option to remove duplicate torrents by comparing hash strings.

Post by: chip! on June 19, 2006, 11:28:01 am
I wish that was possible to remove duplicates based on hash checking.. but that would require Bit Che to actually download the torrent for each search.. or query the web server of the souce of the torrent for the hash info.. and some sites dont even give that info..... but i just got done writing an implementation of the Levenshtein Distance Algorithm which compares the torrent names and file sizes and works as a fairly basic way to remove duplicates.. I'm rather happy with it, so I'm going to go ahead and add more sites to Bit Che even if they produce some duplicates..

I was about to ask that... uh... is there anyway the program can go online and take like txt file updates or something. So that if there are any p2p site, the person can just edit it, or recieve updates to torrent directories? That feature would make it much more appealing then normal... or am I just making things a bit too complicated?

the site torrentz.com (a torrent search site I use with Firefox plugin) uses the following sites
bushtorrent.com
fulldls.com
meganova.org
mininova.org
mybittorrent.com
newtorrents.info
seedler.org
thepiratebay.org
torrentbox.com
torrentportal.com
torrentspy.com

I always use it (mostly if I forget I have Bit Che  :-[ ) and it always gives me the results I want...

Am I the only one here who uses oink.me.uk?  I'm kind of embarassed to admit it, but the pink layout can be changed...  ;D

Plus they have a pretty good selection, and it's usually just as good or better quaility than other trackers.

I would like to recommend these:
oink.me.uk
h33t.com
hdbits.org
toptorrents.org
filesoup.co.uk

I hope it's possible for scripts to be made for trackers that use forums...

Ever since I saw demonoid was added to bit che, I've been wanting these other private trackers included as well. ;D

oink.me.uk
I agree with that one. I haven't seen the others.

Hey chip!, I noticed on your "To Do List" you have a couple of scripts that you plan to add in future versions. Aradi Tracker (http://araditracker.com) is another good private tracker that you may want to add.

Post by: chip! on September 14, 2006, 04:41:26 pm
ok araditracker.com is added... just run Update Scripts   :)

so is  HDbits.org, BTMon.com, & SloTorrent.net

enjoy

ps,

can someone explain to me how toptorrents.org  and  filesoup.co.uk  work?  is filesoup.co.uk just forums where people post torrents? I didnt see many torrents there and I dont think it would be work a major code update to Bit Che to support it unless I missed something?   and for toptorrents.org, is there a download page or do you have to be a member or something??
Title: Re: More sites?
Post by: akalol111 on September 15, 2006, 09:23:19 am
The torrent sites I posted were ones I kept in my browser bookmarks.  I should not have said toptorrents.org or filesoup.co.uk.  Toptorrents is just a release news site that just lists information on new torrent releases from 40 or so sites.  There is no downloading there.  Filesoup is just a forum where people can talk about whatever they downloaded.  I don't think there are torrents you can download there.

Those two sites you an leave out since they don't offer torrents.  Sorry for the mix-up.

wow... ok so i guess I already had an account with IPTorrents.com..  and it took me literally 3 minutes to configure the script using the Script Debugger + QAD and the dimeadozen.org script as a template..

i love it, this is sooo much easier to script now! :)

go ahead and update your scripts if you wanna include iptorrents.com results :P

Can you post scripts for www.desitorrents.com and www.bwtorrents.com?  I see that another user has requested similarly but did not follow up with the invites.  I am following up.

I can provide an invite for the first site.  And then I can provide you account details with a temporary password for the second one (arranged via email).

Please email me at "blah" @ gmail.com where "blah" is "gkumar".

Bovski,

I have not heard from you ever since I sent you the invite and gave my account details for bwtorrents.com.  How is the progress on the scripts for desitorrents.com and bwtorrent.com?

Both sites are using the same mod for vBulletin that uses md5 logins and some other problems with the scripting see http://www.convivea.com/forums/index.php?topic=473.0
