Title: NHL
Post by: TheHalf™ on March 01, 2011, 09:21:24 pm
With all the work that chip is doing here I would like to break away from the 'norm.' and find out how many of us are fans of the sport ice-hockey.

Since I live in W.N.Y. I am a fan of the Sabres and since their fighting for that last playoff spot I am curious as to what our members and guest like.

We've all been down that road. It's sad to think that some of our favorite teams may never win a championship in our lifetimes.

Think about all the boston red sox fans who have died without ever seen a world series win. I'm glad the 86 year streak was broken in my lifetime though!

Good point. Here in Buffalo the Sabres now have a new owner with the dedication and heart to do what its takes to make sure his club wins the Stanley Cup. We came close back in 74-75 (Flyers) and 1999 against Dallas and I sure hope the Sabres can win it all in my lifespan.

mechanic100, you know how many fans of the Leafs drive down here to Buffalo when both teams face-off...especially on a Saturday night. Hockey Night in Canada eh.

Interesting; the Canadiens won last night also and moved 1 point ahead of Buffalo. That would mean if the playoffs started tonight (4.6.2011) it would be Buffalo vs. the Flyers and Boston vs. the Canadiens. But they could play against each other in the 2nd round.

Bruins are down 0-2, things are not looking to good. I will continue to cheer and watch the Celtics, they just BARELY won today's Game 1 in the playoffs vs. the Knicks. :p

Some people like either basketball or hockey, since they are mainly the two major north american sports that overlap seasons almost entirely. I like both though. :)

I've been watching the red sox too lately. They've been sucking pretty bad but the 8-1 win today was pretty sweet.
Title: Re: NHL
Post by: TheHalf™ on April 19, 2011, 12:49:07 am
The Bruins won last night and that saves them from a potential sweep and the Sabres lost last night also and that puts the Flyers up 2-1 like Montreal over Boston 2-1. But remember it's the team who wins 4 first so these series could go to 7 games.

Well the Bruins won in OT (5-4) last night against the Canadiens to even the series @ 2 like the Sabres and Flyers who play tonight at 7:40pm.

What a game last night for the Bruins and in OT yet  ;D. The Sabres play @3PM today and like the Bruins are @ 3-2 in the series. The Sabres can put the Flyers away this afternoon and Boston can put Montréal away Monday night.

Now I believe if both the Sabres and Bruins win they wouldn't play each other in the Conference Semifinals. I think Buffalo would play the Washington Capitals and Boston would play the winner of Pittsburgh/Tampa Bay.

;D Was that the game I started to watch last night Montreal v bruins ? Could only watch until 2nd period  0-0. Very boring game to this point and thought I was watching a friendly high school practise session.
Still I`m sure the atmosphere at the game was better.

The Flyers knocked out the Sabres in 7 games and now are looking to lose to Synbios's Bruins in a 4-0 sweep. Tampa Bay who I wanted the Sabres to play in round 2 or 3 swept out the #1 Wash. Capitals. Now I want to see Tampa Bay and Boston fend-off in round 3.

Vancouver looks like a tough team to beat. It's going to be a close series between them and the preds.

Have you used Hulu to stream any of the games? Does it work for that? Crazy if it does..

On Hulu I haven't but when push comes to shove I do get a live stream from myp2p.eu (posted in another thread) which has several feeds including HD that I seen last night using TSN.

If the Red Wings win game 7 against the San Jose Sharks then go to faceoff against Vancouver I honestly believe that one of those teams from the west will have no trouble defeating either Tampa Bay or Boston to win the cup and to see Detroit come from a 3-0 deficit. Tomorrow nights game is gonna be a good one.

Game 7 for Syn's Bruins, I didn't think this series would go to 7 and now it's do or die for both teams. Vancouver my have a more difficult time if Boston wins as opposed to the Lightning.

Honestly I'm not sure, UK soccer and the NHL may be close to that type of schedule. Tonight the Boston Bruins are at home to play the Tampa Bay Lightning for gm. 7, then it's off to the last round (best of 7) to play against Vancouver for the Stanley Cup.

On a side note, the NHL does start in October (much like the NBA) and finishes (playoff wise) in late spring. I'd like to see the NHL begin their season earlier and finish (with the playoffs) no later than March/April.

It certainly is and Wednesday June 1, 2011 is game one. As much as I would like a team from the east to win I don't believe Boston can defeat the #1 team out of the west Vancouver, my prediction...Vancouver in 6.

I've been watching some hilarious Vancouver riot videos. Those people are nuts and the Vancouver police probably suck.

The boston police were all prepared after previous incidents (riots due to winning). The problem with bostonians though is that they riot when they win, but not nearly as bad as what those canucks did. I have yet to see boston riots from a loss, strangely.

Here we are in May 24 2012 and the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs are half completed with the Los Angeles Kings in and waiting for the winner of the New Jersey Devils/New York Rangers series.
