Title: Bit Che 3.0 - Latest Version -- using Wineskin to use Bit Che on OS X
Post by: Cuba_D on August 30, 2014, 08:25:25 am
I'm very glad to see the 3.0 update of Bit Che! Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make it happen.

I am primarily a Mac user, but still have some Windows machines.

I thought other Mac users might want to use the latest version of Bit Che on their Macs, so I'm attaching a PDF of instructions on how to use Wineskin to get Bit Che to run in a window under OS X.

Hope it is helpful for some. Thanks!
Chip

Very cool, thank you Cuba_D.  Can you test if the install of vb6run is still required? I was thinking I had the bit che installer take care of that for you, regardless of where/how you install it :)

I wasn't aware that you included vb6run in the new version. I installed it just to be safe. I will try to do an uninstall and reinstall, without separately installing vb6run and will post back. Thanks for the info.

Not a problem. I hope this is helpful.

I have just downloaded the updated version of Bit Che, and will see if the installation process is any different. I will try to prepare a "how to" for other Mac users.

That was almost too easy!  Seems the old instructions still apply. If there are differences, they are rather minor and the necessary action is obvious.

I should qualify my statement by making it clear that I am (still) running OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. It's a long story.

Anyway, my thanks to Chip and all of Convivea for the Bit Che update!

UPDATE:
In case anyone is wondering, the latest Bit Che (+) version 3.5 (build 26) is stable on the latest Mac OS X 10.10.4 Yosemite.

The installation instructions, posted previously, still are valid.

Great job Chip! and thanks to everyone that helps make Bit Che such a valued tool!!!

All the best,
Cuba D

dear all,

used bit che in the past with no problems at all with mac osx. Now i tried again to install it, using the instructions in the pdf, everything is fine and works, only thing is that it will not recognize the language pack and scripts, so all .ini files are not available. is there something i do wrong?

thanks for your support

Hmm... I have to admit that I have not tried to install any of the language packs. Perhaps someone else might share the benefit of their experience?

hi all!  :D
I finally solved the issue.

I used Wineskin: Wrapper Version: 2.6.2 and Engine: 1.7.36

everything worked like a charm (language + scripts).

Hope it helps...
