Title: Your PC, Your MAC
Post by: TheHalf™ on June 28, 2006, 06:58:55 pm
With Windows Vista Beta2 out for end users, does your 'puter meet the required specs ?

I definately need to upgrade my graphics card to get the full enjoyment of Vista's 3D enhancements.

not using Vista beta for that reason - my PC is simply shit.

I'm saving to buy a Apple Powerbook at the end of the year to fill all my needs.

I'd wait until summer of 2007 to purchase a new PC, unless you begin to prebuild a new system now. Windows Vista is going to be the norm and your PC specs will need to be up to par.

I've got a new computer. I chose the parts, then had someone build it and show me how it fits together.

2 CD/DVD+RW drives
160 GB hard drive
AMD 64 Duel Core 3800+
2 GeForce 7600 GT videocards
New monitor, speakers, and wireless mouse, keyboard, and media remote.
and a lot more

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

If that isn't good enough to run it, I give up.

I happily meet Vista but with all the driver issues still about, it's a bit rough and ready. I imagine I will end up getting Vista when DirectX 10 comes out, don't see a point getting it till then.

Until then... check out

http://osx.portraitofakite.com/    --  Turn your WinXP into a Mac OSX Look alike, complete with all the GUI enhancements, bootloaders, sounds, icons, everything!

or if you just want a kick ass task switcher, try TopDesk  (http://www.otakusoftware.com/topdesk/) which can do both OSX style and Vista style window arrangements..

best thing about these tweaks is that your current WinXP stuff is more than capable to handle the enhancements smoothly..

I'm not one of these people that goes nuts over the look, so I don't mind, I find Windows just as good as Mac OS to use, it's just Apple is MUCH more stable, and has more thrust (I'll be video editing in it, probably in HD,  so I need a bit of a goer)

Isn't Vista gonna have DRM probs????.....I thought I read something about that........If Vista restricts any of my good habits, I'll stick with XP.......

Hit the button "Profile" at the TOP of the page (next to Search and Logout)
then on the left there are options to change.
