HOLY CRAP.... it works!!! the "bc://" I never noticed that...

Anyway, I listen to JPop/JRock. Heres a couple of nice bands that I listen to.

Mika Nakashima (listen to the "post Nana" stuff, pre Nana sucks)
Pierrot
Glay
Hikaru Utada
Dir en Grey
Seamo (Mata Aiamashou is a really moving song)
Gazette (I love ALL their stuff)- "Relia" is a good song.

Yes I did too... don't think its as good as her others though.  She doesn't have that Annie Lennox sound in that song.. think thats what attracted me to her in the first place. ;)

I'm a die hard RUSH fan and ther's a new cd soon to be released. Snakes and Arrows,if there are any rush fans out there you'll know the meaning of heavy metal, cause thats what they sound like when you hear the new single called far cry. It's like they started all over again considering their last album vapor trails which totally rocked i mean i thought i was listening to metallica or something lol.

Vey impressed... ;D ;D ;D 8) 8)

GoodBooks - Control  [2007]
indie / uk

ok.. i've been following this band for a while now since i really liked some of their tunes, but their new album comes out soon, and if you can get a hold of it, definitely grab it!

i'm super impressed with the final mixed versions of the songs, they have an electro-indie style undertones that is pretty fricken awesome. they were not present in the pre-released versions of their songs like Turn It Back, or Passchendaele. the album will be available in stores starting July 30th.. ;)

for a quick listen:
http://www.myspace.com/goodbooks

on that page, i recommend checking out Passchendaele (not my favorite, but still good).. and also the The Teenagers remix of The Illness

if any of that makes your ear drums dance, then make sure you check out the album cuz the rest is good too :)

Good new bands:

Chromeo-- really funky, electronic music
MIA- politically minded Sri Lankan badass girl with productions that rival Timbaland.... also really interesting lyrics
Vampire Weekend- intelligent electronic music, I'd call it emo if it wasn't so good

Jack Johnson's new album Sleep Through The Static is his best work to date, a really really good album - puts the acoustic guitar down for most of the tracks and plays electric blues & reggae style with a pianist included in the band :)

I also liked the new Jack Johnson album, the new electric sound is cool. There's a melancholy sound to it that's cool.

The Hold Steady

Not sure how their latest stacks up against previous work because I'm still only on my 100th listen.

People compare them to the Replacements with Sprinsteen fronting, but to me they were everything Everclear (one of my faves ever) promised and more.

Think I'm a bit of an oddball when it comes to this thread, since my fave genre is folk, but I do listen to quite a variety of stuff (pop, rock, jazz, classical, world, country), and I like to branch out (i.e., I think M.I.A., mentioned earlier, is neat!). Here are some albums I like which have come out this year:

Tori Amos - "Abnormally Attracted to Sin" and "Midwinter Graces" (love all of Tori's stuff, these two don't disappoint IMHO; usually not in to holiday albums, but her arrangements are such that I forget it's a holiday album!)
Chantal Kreviazuk - "Plain Jane" (fan of all her stuff, too, especially like the jazzy tinge to some of the tracks)
Loreena McKennitt - "A Mediterranean Odyssey" (two CD set, live concert and compilation of Mediterranean-influenced tracks from her back catalog; wish their were some new tracks, but the new live recording's great; I am annoyed that some of the instrumentation was taken out on the compilation CD to shorten the time of the songs from their original versions, why edit!)
Rachel Proctor - "What Didn't Kill Me" (a country album; her 2nd record and 1st as an independent, am glad she's continuing to put out records; like first one a lot and same with this one, honestly can't think of a song of hers I don't like)
Holly Near with Emma's Revolution - "We Came to Sing!" (both these artists are politically and feminist minded; this record takes some of Holly's songs and re-works them with ER; they've created some really neat harmonies!)
Our Lady Peace - "Burn Burn" (to end this list with a male artist! LOL; like this one quite a lot better than their 2005 recording that came before it)

Cheers, :)

Well Rush is due out with a new album later this year 2011 and their having a tour overthere in Europe to co-sponsor Caravan and BU2B. So all kidding aside I'll just put 'Half the World' here.
