Wow liverpool won a game? As an Arsenal supporter, and a few of my mates being Liverpool supporters... was a fun FA Cup/Carling Cup weekend last week. They must have got pretty pissed off at the 6-3, and 3-1 scores and put out a force against Chelsea haha!

Hmmm Arsenal V Man U tonight though eh?

What I still don't understand from watching that game, is how up himself Christiano Ronaldo is... he's the pretty boy with an attitude! Which is a shame because he sort of floats around the pitch like no one else is there haha.

Latest news 2nd half 3-0 for CHELSEA and looking for another ;D

The young Gunners who seem to be regulars in the Carling Cup drew 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur (which was a pretty good effort considering one of the Tottenham goals was an own goal, and the guy who stuck it in his own net came back and scored 2 goals to equalise!). There's no chance of them taking us at the Emirates so it looks to be an Arsenal v Chelsea Carling Cup final\

Btw: Tex did you forget that your "mighty" blues drew 1-1 with the same team... when they didn't have the luxury of their own stadium? They're a 2nd Division team for crying out loud!

Hmm... Arsenal drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough... They got a penalty and Senderos got sent off, but in the replay it's clearly a dive! (He put his hand on his shoulder and the guy did a superman... but that's not what this card ready ref saw!)

What you guys think of the England v Spain match? Pretty poor performance wasn't it? A shame I thought they'd make it a good match after seeing their confidence at the beginning but no, a typical England performance really only having 1 striker for the majority of the match (they called Wright-Phillips a striker but he's hardly one is he?) and you can just see the difference when they put Defoe on. Still very pulled back performance.

;D Liverpool now through (goal by crouch , not that it was needed).
Wonder who they will meet next, lol
CL semi-final dates confirmed
The last-four fixtures have now been finalised following Wednesday's action.

Sir Alex Ferguson's United side remain on course to try and  repeat the legendary 1999 Treble season and could reach their first Champions League final in eight years.

They will meet Milan, six-times winners and beaten finalists in 2005, at Old Trafford on Tuesday April 24, with the second leg at the San Siro on Wednesday May 2.

Following their famous triumph in Istanbul two years ago, Liverpool  could be three games away from lifting a sixth crown in Athens.

But they will first have to stage a repeat of the 2005 semi-final when they engineered a 1-0 aggregate win over Chelsea.

The Reds  must travel to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday April 25, before losing to Jose Mourinho's Blues and then come to Anfield on Tuesday May 1 to lose again.
Final looks certain to be Chelsea v Milan.
cheers

Sorry Tex, but I haven't seen much news about Chelsea, all we get over here is news about MU.  I do hope Billy doesn't mind me barracking for them, hope he doesn't think a female will mozz them.  mmmmm  :(

You gotta watch out for the Arsenal next season -- no (or maybe 1) new player, unlike the 10 or so this season. All players have more experience and hopefully van Persie and Henry won't get injured early again...

;D Sad people watch Eurovision contest. The songs that are put forward are not a true reflection of what the public would like to see their country represented by. Some highly paid moron picks the worst and most outrageous act. Its a long way from a song contest.lol

i'm not sad Tex.  I actually think its humourous.. well at least the Aussie comemtator is who is talking when the votes are given out.. so easy to pick which country is going to give its points too.  How poor Sweden still are looking for another Abba.. etc etc.  There are a couple of good ones, but i really enjoy the humerous side of it all.  How that country came number 2 this year beats me... that was a joke, and serbia it seems stole the winning song from Armenia from 2006... interesting stuff.

Congratulations to all the Chelsea supporters.  I stayed up and watched my first game of football last night.. as a beginner this is what i noticed.. and remember, i know nothing of the game at all.

Coaches.. Alex Ferguson is a very cool cucumber... like the man.. however his gum chewing could be a little modified.
Jose Mourinho, needs to learn to smile a little.. will give himself a hernia.. could take a cool lesson from Ferguson.

The game last night... the first half i felt was so damn boring.. cautious even, looked like they were almost scared of each other.

Second half.. more entertaining, however i noticed that Chelsea had it over ManU in team support.  There were too many loose players around, and it was difficult for a player to have a back up on the MU side.. this is where Chelsea had it over them.. even if it was just for one goal.

Teams.... Hands down that MU have the spunky hunks... no denying that... all hotties.. don't think much of the other lookers on the chelsea side.. besides i was too busy looking at the ones in red, down right drop dead gorgeous, and remember, i am a female and we do "perv" on footballers.. Ronaldo, is a spunk, Rooney is gorgeous, and the list goes on.  It won't be my last match i watch, even if it is only for a perv.. :)

Alex Ferguson summed up in the news by saying..

Quote
"It's hard to take...but the important thing is to accept it and get on with it."

I was planned to watch the match in MU Cafe (ofiicial MU franchise) where my buddies are the home band at the cafe (it's for the free entry  8)), but unfortunately the place is so crowd and even they close the gate because there's no more space inside.
So I drove and find me a place where I can watch for free.. Found it! I watch the game just about Drogba made the goal!
Couldn't be more happier that night!  ;D  ::) ;D

CHELSEA'S ON THE WAY!!

;D Glad to see Weera is keeping all these RED team supporters on their toes, Just back today, What a sad 1st week watching MAN U  and Liverpool  supporters dragging themselves from the bars (in Spain). ;D
Still what can a man do but enjoy the sunshine, a few visits to Gibraltar where a litre of vodka/brandy/scotch costs £2-3, local Spanish wine at 60-70 pence a litre, and cigarettes at 50-90 pence a pack. It was tough but I made it back.

WEERA for president.lol

Oh dear. Spurs are 3-0 up at home to Man United on 29th September 2001. In a bid to impress his girlfriend, one unfortunate Tottenham fan stakes his entire mortgage on his boys to win the game. Cue Veron's only decent game for United who go on to maul Spurs 5-3 and a very embarrassed punter going home to an empty house.

well..  i finally have something to post about in this thread, haha.

The Galaxy vs Chelsea July 21st..

say what you want, but Beckham really will get me to watch a lot more MLS and in turn, Europe soccer (err, football) matches.  ;D

i love the game (especially after living in Spain for 5 months), but in my opinion, we really did need a super star over here to help ignite US interest in the sport.

Are the Chelsea money men feeling ok?

Their only major signings being Ben Haim, Sidwell and Malouda.

They didn't try and buy Ronaldinho this time?  ::)

Although I see Man U have got Tevez  :( I rather hoped Arsenal would grab him after Henry left... or for him to stay in West Ham, that would have been a sight.

It seems Liverpool are the ones spending their money over the summer.

;D ;D ;D Cissie this was only a friendly match as the season has not yet started.  ManU had theiir full team on the field while CHELSEA were down to 50% due to injuries, Dont count your chickens yet. As Mr Mourinio said.

"But what makes me really happy and confident is that one side was a team almost in the maximum of their power if you look at Manchester United's team last season and the team they played here.

"If you look at the Chelsea team, we are speaking about less than 50% of the team. But we competed against them. They were not better than us, I am not going to say we were better than them but it is fair to say nobody was better than anybody. That has given us confidence for the start of the season against Birmingham."
We will watch you cry later. ;D

;D ;D. Nice little fixture this weekend.

Man U v Sunderland (Saturday). A real chance of another upset since Sunderland would not normally be considered a real threat  to the almost unbeatable Reds ;)

Then on sunday we have Chelsea v Aston Villa. A close one, but a goal will see us through.

Your thoughts pls. ;D
cheers

Well it seems everyone wrote off Arsenal as soon as Henry left. I must say, not doing too badly  ;D

Although 1 game behind so not much to compare really (but no losses...)

I wish Wenger had signed Quaresma from Porto... ah well Chelsea decided to give us their "next Makelele".

Playing Portsmouth tomorrow. They are getting quite good lately, but a win shouldn't be too difficult.

ahem.... my thoughts don't really matter, however the ones in the paper say it all...

Chelsea often demonstrated their class but as usual they struggled at Villa Park despite some tenacious play from the likes of Didier Drogba, John Terry, Alex and Michael Essien.(http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/15/36119kl8.gif)

 ;D This should be interesting.

15-09-2007
Barclays Premier League
Everton v Man Utd, 12:00
Portsmouth v Liverpool, 12:45
Tottenham v Arsenal, 13:30
Birmingham v Bolton, 15:00
Sunderland v Reading, 15:00
West Ham v Middlesbrough, 15:00
Wigan Athletic v Fulham, 15:00
Chelsea v Blackburn, 17:15

Room for upsets again. And of course no post would be complete without a quote from the master himself.
Mourinho predicts open season
 Mon 03 Sep 2007

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is predicting the Barclays Premier League title race will be more open this season after seeing Aston Villa end his side's 18-match unbeaten run.

It was their first league defeat since losing to Liverpool at Anfield in January.

But Mourinho feels the money spent this summer by Villa and other sides outside of the top four will mean more surprise results could happen in the next nine months.

The Chelsea boss said: "There has been a big input by teams outside of the top four so it will become more normal for the big teams to lose matches and points.

"The other teams have spent lots of money and brought players in to bolster their teams. Villa are one example but you can find a lot of other examples

"It will be more difficult to play against these teams because they are better. The league is open but it is the first weekend of September and we are only five matches into the season."

cheers

all the "imports" in the English game will have a detrimental effect in years to come. the national team, will struggle when there will be a lack of home grown talent.

Shock? What are you kidding? Russia are hardly known for their top football team are they. Although I was impressed with their performance against England, they just didn't have a chance  8)

I'd also like to remind you of something:
Estonia 0-3 England, 6 June 2007, Estonia only have 1 win. I don't think it will be luck that gets an England win there.

I think now that England are a little more settled, the game against Croatia will be a great one. Hopefully Arsenal's new striker doesn't get too many goals (3 from 2 games for Croatia over the weekend!)

Yes and no . With all the money paid out by premier clubs for new players. You would think that the game should be more exciting. At the moment I probably would enjoy going to watch some of our schoolboy teams play than watch the cr*p that is being played on TV. And Chelseas goal was ligitament as the player came up from behind to score. For once the linesman was wrong                                                                                                                                                             Hope it picks up soon. ;D

oh dear what can the matter be,
jose murinio has gone and left chelsea,
was he pushed or did he fall,
poor guy always had his back to the wall,
he couldn't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear,
that awful team became too bad to bear,
try rugby, jose, you might have more success,
it's pretty similar, more or less,
or a ladies hockey team might improve your luck
if they don't win, you might at least get a reccommendation.

I was quite surprised to hear about this. I remember at the end of last season, at the end of the Arsenal 1 - 1 Chelsea draw that ended Chelsea's opportunity to take the premiere league, Mourinho went to the Chelsea fans and told them to keep their heads up, that there is always next season. It seemed he really did love the club... and it seems that the money has forced him out (the billionaire's rules are final... why businessmen never succeed at sports?).

Either way

Arsenal 3 - 0 Sevilla  :P

Squeaky? HA!

Should have win 3-1, had two good strikes off the post. The only reason they even scored was because the wall moved during a free kick and the ball went straight through  :-\ It was one way traffic for pretty much the whole game.

Billy will be upset if its Arsenal 4-1 Man U, I don't think it will be quite a drobbing. Perhaps Arsenal 2-1 Man U, mmm especially with Mr Tevez (who, I might add, scored the goal to win 1-0 against us with West Ham last season... and possibly is my favourite striker not playing for Arsenal)
But there's no way you're winning at the Emirates Billy! ;D

Oh and Chelsea... 6-0! Haha was the City goal keeper hung over or something?  :P

Wow, well I think they needed it (the win and the goal difference) if they want to stay in Champions League.

I think a... hmm lets say 3-0 victory for Arsenal will be on the cards today. Was 7-0 last time but I think being away might bring the goals down a bit. Walcott to start I hope!

Who are we playing this weekend? I haven't even looked... hope it CHELSEA... they're the only ones of the top 6 we haven't played...  ;D

Oh and I see Chelsea have got back on top of their group table after a bit of a struggle at the start... Haha and Avarm is looking to buy Ronaldinho for "anything up to 100m pounds". This gets to the point when I think... how is that profitable? Sure he will bring a lot of fans to the club... but the money has already done that with the players they now have? I suppose January will see a few Chelsea players leave though, considering Mourinho has gone.

What do you think Tex, is Lampard going to stick around?

[From press conference]
“Fabregas is under contract with us. If Barcelona want to buy any player under contract then I’ll give them my phone number. But I think they have it because they just bought Thierry Henry.”

“Still would you be open to an offer?” enquired a journalist.

“No chance,” Wenger replied.

Hmm well 'good' would certainly NOT be the word I would describe the game now after watching it... Too bad that I'm in England during the Euro 2008 campaign,  it would have been great to watch them from the pubs  :(

Now we will have Billy after us saying that if Rooney had have been fit they could have won 6-o ;D
Premier league players trying to play world class football. England were crap and they know it. Even N. Ireland had a good scrap especially when you think that the cost of one Spanish player is more than the whole N.I. team gets in wages for a year.  The pub is still your best bet NWM.lol

;D  Might be dangerous to make a post at this time. Wins for Arsenal and Chelsea but Man U still wandering  somewhere in Bolton. >:D.
Still Billy should have  "Wonderman Rooney back in time for Fulham" lol.

Sir Alex Ferguson was sent to the stands as his title-chasing Manchester United side crashed to their first defeat since August via a 1-0 loss at Bolton.

Ferguson was dismissed by referee Mark Clattenburg for a half-time tunnel rant at a succession of minor decisions that had gone against his team.

And the United manager's mood could not have been improved by the sight of his side losing at Bolton for the first time since December 1978, nor the fact that the matchwinner, Nicolas Anelka, was a man he has tried to buy himself on several occasions.

Not that Gary Megson will be too bothered about that as his first win as Trotters boss swept his new charges out of the relegation zone for virtually the first time this season.

Dont you just love it.

It really should have been 3-0 though... ok 1 was offside (doubtful... but ok) and the other was a foul? I have no idea. Either way Ade-Bay-Or should be top scorer  ::)

He'll just have to stick a few to Spurs in a few hours  ;D

I can see what you mean about evenly matched, but sometimes that makes for a really good game? Although at other times, quite like the Chelsea game, it was about breaking down Arsenal's flow and then trying to break on counter attack... which isn't very interesting to watch. Almost better to just watch the highlights.

Ah well drew AC Milan in the Champions League. THAT will be an interesting match, have no idea how he'll play that one

here is a poem i made earlier........

oh dear what can the matter be,
jose murinio has gone and left chelsea,
was he pushed or did he fall,
poor guy always had his back to the wall,
he couldn't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear,
that awful team became too bad to bear,
try rugby, jose, you might have more success,
it's pretty similar, more or less,
or a ladies hockey team might improve your luck
if they don't win, you might at least get a reccommendation.

Well I was watching the Arsenal - Birmingham City game at a friends house (who are all Australian and disliked football, trying to convince me that football = aussie rules... yes it's pretty much impossible to tell an englishman that) and I had to admit that THIS game was crap (as they constantly reminded me). So slow and boring, all in their half just couldn't get a goal. And then to lose a goal over a sloppy corner... well I just laughed when I saw the 6-0 Newcastle drubbing.  ::)

At least Fulham will get one next week.

As it stands we can lose to Chelsea, and providing we win the other matches, we will still win. but knowing Man U, we will prob win Chelsea, and lose to some team in the relegation area :(

;D  just got back from a great trip to Donegal, Even took the ferry from Greencastle to Magilligan NI. Missed all the football action today. Can anyone give me an update on the CHELSEA v Man U game.
Was Billies predictions correct or was this a lot of Ballacks? >:D

Why did he leave Tevez on the bench??

Final sub (only tactical one as the others were for injuries) Anderson off for O'Shea...

??  ???

There are so many leaders in Chelsea. Ballack could easily captain the team permanently (although Terry is the perfect captain for the team).

Ha it's funny to watch Arsenal play at the moment. They are literally walking around the pitch and just shooting, oh it missed, oh well, walk back... get the ball... walk back up... shoot yay we scored! It's hilarious.

And now Lehmann and Flamini are confirmed to be leaving (well Lehmann 99% according to Wenger). I'm actually quite happy about that... now all I want is for Bentner to leave and Wenger to change his mind about David Villa! But I don't see that happening so... be an interesting transfer season.

Down to the final day! Will Man U be able to survive that Wigan pitch?

Alright quick before the weekend - predictions!

Obviously Arsenal 3rd, Liverpool 4th, but who will be first and second? Again Derby are relegated but two of Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Reading or Birmingham City will also be relegated.

I reckon

Title - Man U (sorry Tex, I see a win a piece)

Downers -
Fulham (I see a a draw or loss against Portsmouth, taking them to 34 points)
Birmingham (even if they beat blackburn they'll still only be on 35 points)

which means Bolton losing to Chelsea, they will remaiin on 36 points, Reading beat Derby to be on 36 points.

In total

1st Man U (87 pts +57ish gd)
2nd Chelsea (87 pts +40ish gd)
...
16th Bolton (36 pts -20ish gd)
17th Reading (36 pts -26ish gd)
18th Birmingham (35 pts)
19th Fulham (33/34 pts)
20th Derby (11 pts - what a shocker!)

haven't looked at any bookies yet... should I place a bet??  :D

Well didn't expect Chelsea to only get a draw... or Fulham to do... what was it 4 wins in 5 games or something? What a way to pull themselves outta trouble!

All I can say is... there's no way ManU have that trophy next year so live it up while you can  ;D
(10 karma points your way... Billy  ::) )

Wow.... Billy will be such a proud man today.  So happy for you Billy.. commiserations to you Tex and Night Watchman.  Don't count your chickens for next year.. the current is now.. and Man U are the winners now, so let's not take anything away from them.  They worked hard from behind the 8 ball to start, and followed through.  It didn't come easy, and they had to work for it, so credit where due, and congratulations to them.

;D Sorry Billy, been away for a few days. Didnt even get to see the match. Well done!. Penalty shoot outs  are exciting but really not a good way to end the contest.
Very evenly matched and could have gone either way.
Catch up later
