;D I get a newsletter from Alienware and this is their latest in pc. They also have notebooks.

You're paying for the case, the hassle of putting this kind of system together and the warranty. It's not massively hard to put these kind of systems together yourself these days without too much difficulty and at about 20-30% less and still in a really good looking case.
I think I probably prefer commodore's custom pain jobs http://www.commodoregaming.com/pcshop/Home.aspx

It says if you give them lots of money they'll put together the best in currently available technology to make the best gaming machine possible, in that sense they are pretty correct. They don't seem to specify whether they use factory over clock 8800 GTXs or whether they use faster than 800 MHz DDR2, but all in all it's probably the best system you can put together. However in about 2 - 3 weeks when the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT comes out then there will be an even better graphics card in all likelihood, but then they'll likely offer 2 of those in crossfire mode.
I also didn't seem to find an option for a 10'000 RPM drive and windows to be installed on that (though I hear they're a little noisy compared to 7'200 RPM dirves).

Well they look vary different from my Commodore Amega 3000 :)
