You could use the https://launchpad.net/ (https://launchpad.net/) so it would be easy to translate your code...
Launchpad is being used by the Ubuntu linux distro with good results...

I already translated some apps to Portuguese (pt standard) for the Ubuntu distro, and its very useful to use Launchpad...

that would be excellent...  with the next major update, I will extract all the strings to a language file and then we can get started localization from there! thank you and welcome to the forums :)

excellent!   the next version of Bit Che is almost ready that includes support to change the language.

Here is a link to download the language file to translate.. Just open it up in notepad, save it as your new language and then edit the text to your language.. should be pretty straight forward as I've grouped the language captions by control type in the program, for example, all of the button captions are grouped together in the language file.

Thanks in advance!

Download English.ini (http://www.convivea.com/download/English.ini)

(right click, Save Target As..)

Well I guess I'm done with the French version, but this will probably need some adjustments.
Had the following problems:
- French usually takes a little more letters than English. If you need space, chop the articles (le, la, les, l')
- I did not find the word "Die" anywhere in build 44. Probably a new option? So I guessed.
- I don't understand what the option "Open Torrent Details in New Window" is supposed to do, since there is absolutely no change if I check this or not. Anyway, I translated as it says.
- You propably forgot a few words in the translation file. I added what I found at the end of the French translation file.

If you have questions, just ask me.
Note : The 2nd and biggest file is the good one - I changed line 56 (only change)

Excellent work sabnorton! I have uploaded a beta of build 45 which includes support for the language files, and hopefully I have not missed much.. it should basically all be localized now with the exception of the helper programs used for downloading the torrents and updating the scripts, but I will work on those in the future...

1. For the size of the captions, I only noticed a problem with these 3:
cmdOpenSource=Accéder à la page
cmdSaveTorrent=Enregistrer sous..
25=Réinitialiser l'historique de recherche

I could make the buttons a little wider, but i think it would look best for the GUI if we only shortened the text... what do you think?

2.  "Die"  appears on the Script Debug screen.. but hardly anyone will actually see it..

3.   "Open Torrent Details in New Window".. this happens when you view the details of a torrent, whether you want to use multiple "windows" for the details, or just a single window.. to see this, turn the option on and then open up multiple torrent details without closing the old ones. and then you can repeat with the option off..

4. Thanks for pointing out the extra strings I missed :).  I have found a few more strings and listed their line #'s at the bottom of the French.ini   (new strings= 69, 107, 108, 110, 117, 118)

thank you!

Good work chip!

I checked the result and it's pretty fine.

I updated the French translation file:
- Translated lines you added (69, 107, 108, 110, 117, 118)
- Modified lines 20 and 35 (minor changes)
- Modified lines 45, 46 and 25[strings] (the ones that were too long)
- Modified line 14 to be more understandable ( I finally got it! Thanks for the explanation)
- Changed line 66 to remove the space before the colon, since I figured that there was no room for it it in the Account Registering Window (Contrary to English, in French we're supposed to put a space before and after colon)
- Added a few more lines for the Duplicate Resultats Log Window

Also, the "Edit Script" button doesn't do anything. I supposed it's normal for now? (I could not verify this part)

Here you go.

It's not much, but it's probably worth noting that you have misspelled "occurred" in your ini file there, you've spelt it "occured".

..I added the Tabs.. I decided to go ahead and bump the build to 47..  this is still extremely beta, and a work in progress build, but otherwise stable..

http://www.convivea.com/download/bit_che_1_0_47.exe

French.ini    Changes:

new_lines_#=73,118,119,120

these have been either added or updated, or I used Google Language Translation for a couple new ones..  :-\

regarding build information:

known issues:

-limit to 500 tabs at one time
-tabs go off the screen if you open more than your window can handle and there's no way to scroll..
-when closing a tab, the tabs do not slide over to take its place..
-tab #1 never 'closes' and is always there, even when you close all tabs or you close it when others are still open..

fixed: several bugs, some with the Removed Results window..
added 2 new private sites scripts: filelist.org and torrentbytes.net
updated: script engine has several new functions and support for 'if then' type statements :)

edit:  also... a rough Italian translation is in progress..
I hope to have German, and Dutch and maybe Spanish and Swedish within the next week.. I just have to get a hold of a few friends living in those countries..

edit in the morning:   wow, it was very very late last night :) I realize I made some mistakes in the language file, and even duplicated one of the strings (line 91) that had already been translated :(  oh well.. im going to go make sure there arent other mistakes.  ok i've re-uploaded build 46 again with the duplicate string deleted..

French ini file updated for lines lines 14, 24, 45, 73, 118, 120

Adding tabs is a nice idea, by the way, but I don't think I'm going to use it very much.

ok i've included your Greek.ini with build 54.. also, let me know if the Labels on the Torrent Details now show the Unicode properly. I replaced them with labels that are supposed to be Unicode-aware... If thats working, I'll replace the others found on the About Box, etc in the next build.

thanks :)

greek.ini  (1.0 b54) updated again. i have translate months also

Add double click to open torrent in the language files in the next build please :)

I'll do the finnish version.

Couple of comments:
- "mnuOpenTorrent" seems to always use english text
- Buttons seem to use english text only; "Yes", "No" & "Cancel".
- When changing the language on a fly "All" button on the top button in it's original language.

whats the best way to send .ini and .ico files to you?

Thanks!

I would have helped you translate it into Spanish, but considering that you are from Argentina you're probably all over it.

Title: Re: OLD - Re: Bit Che - Translators Wanted!
Post by: chip! on November 14, 2006, 06:37:17 pm
Exoskeletor  -  thanks.. will do :)

turegum  -  Pretty simple.. just click  "Additional Options" when you are making a post here, and then you will have the option to attach the ".ini" file.  I will check up on the things you have mentioned, with the exception of the 'Yes / No' captions.. From reading the MSDN docs, I was under the impression that these buttons are system wide and depend on the Language in use of the computer. Is this not the case? If not I could go back and create my own msgbox's instead of using system commands for that..

LethalAmbition - I would love a Spanish version.. while I do know some Spanish since I studied in Madrid, Spain last Fall, I'm actually from California and am no where near being fluent enough to translate Bit Che into native Spanish. So thanks ahead of time!

Hi Chip,

Here is the finnish version.

You are right about the language of the buttoms depending on OS language, but a lot of people in small countries install English version OS in their computers. Also in the (multinational) corporate environment images tend to be only in English which simplifies IT support and help files/instruction.

Most programs which have language supports like Firefox, Azureus etc seem to have buttons which get the words from the language file, not from the OS...

ok thanks turegum! i found code to easily change the default button captions of the message boxes, so I will include this with the next release! (along with your translation) :)

also, i've bumped your post count so you have access to the Guevara Editions :)

Thanks Chip!

There is a text showing when you hover the mouse over the "Seach" and "All" buttons, "Include description searches" and "PayPal donate" button. Those are not yet included in the language file.

Can you please allow .ico files to be uploaded to the forum? Currently it is not allowed.

np.. i've enabled .ico, and also maybe all file types..  I do have a Finland.ico (as attached), but if yours is better, i'll for sure use it..      also, those 'tool tips', I've debated whether I should include translations for them, or if I should leave them in English maybe in case the tips will make more sense in English to someone that is wondering what the button/control does? but, I have no problem at all including them in the translation file... and I am thinking that maybe we should include them.. yes?

Tips for translators:

- Download and install Azureus and then toggle between English an your own language (tools-options-interface-language). Azureus has most of the torrenting related words you need already translated.
- If you have your own language Firefox you can compare the translations with and English version.
- Some Open Source projects (like GNOME) might have a localization pages including a computer related word dictionary on the local language web site. Check / Google that.
- Other sources: Babelfish, Google Rosetta project, computer dictionaries, Local language pages in Wikipedia, torrenting related translated ebooks, the torrenting geek sitting next to you...

Work slowly. If you get stuck with an expression or word, leave it for a while and come back to it later. don't try to force the translation.

Chip might have the flag icon file, but if not, you can create it easily:
- Check from the Wikipedia (your government web site) the real dimentions and official colours of the flag.
- You can use Microangelo (or other icon editing tool) from www.microangelo.us/free-download.asp to create the flag file. Remember to set the custom pixel size for your file..

hi CyberPanda... thanks for the updated language file!  I think possible the English.ini that you used was slightly old and I dont know off hand if there are any other missing text's in that one, but I have given you access to the Guevara Editions, and with Build 56, you should have a complete English.ini, but go ahead and test out your Italian.ini and then let me know if we need to make any changes to it before I include it with the next release!

Also English version header of the About box now displays "About MyApp Bit Che". Where did the MyApp come from...

Also, can you please update the first post of this topic. It points to an old English ini file..

ok...... I just made my life much easier when it comes to keeping all of the Language files updated and synced with any changes in the English file.

I wrote a language file compare tool that checks all of the languages.ini for missing strings or English strings that aren't converted. If its missing, the tool will add the English string with  "!" in front of it, so its easily recognizable when you guys edit the lines.

feel free to fire this up along with the latest version of the English.ini  (version 1.0.58) (or the build 58 installer):

(it will compare ALL of your language files against the English.ini... but each time you run it, the tool will print out at the bottom of your Language.in which ever strings are missing or appear to be English ones. so if you edit your Language.ini you can run the compare.exe again to make sure nothings missing)...

OH. put this 'compare.exe' into your '\language\' right along side of the Language.ini files..

Here is the finnish version for build 58 with couple of comments:

- I dont seem to be able to add any coffee cups any more...
- Bit Che closes if you do not enter anything in the registration box or click close the registration window by clicking close botton on the top right hand corner
- Arabic translation shows and english in File -> Language menu and in the intial installation
- If you have dialog box open, Bit Che can not be found by selecting Alt-Tab
- "lblDoubleClick=Double Clicking a result opens:" in Preference menu does not read the translation.
- Bit Che detected an Azureus client even when it was uninstalled. It is maybe because Azureus has not de-registered the .torrent file..
- In Tools -> Preference "Automatically check for Bit Che updates" and "Minimize Bit Che to the system tray" string "Bit Che" is not capitalized even when it is in the language file.
- English mnuAbout has changed from "About" to "Bit Che" in built58. Is there any way to track/check english.ini file changes?
- Should the [list_results] also have a Ratio? I can not find it in a language file.
- "Guevara Account" does not get translated in registration box.
- Script updating dialog boxes are not in the language files.
- Under [menus] in .ini file "Repeat searches on all tabs" and "Repeat searches on current tab" are missing
- Minor cosmetic comment; should there be space around "/"? see "Show seeder / leech ratio as:" and "Show/Hide Scripts"

Thanks!

If there isnt any solution to this problem i will write them in greeklish. (how im gonna translate coffe cup.. :D )

Title: Re: OLD - Re: Bit Che - Translators Wanted!

hmm.. bummer.. yeah i think we are just going to have to use Greeklish for the listview captions for the time being.. i will try to track down a UniCode aware ListView control but I think that might take a ton of re-coding to implement since the ListView is a integral part of bit che's code, and i dont know if one exists..

but thanks for the update to 1.58...   i replied to your other post regarding the strings missing in 58 but are in 59's English.ini  (along with compare.exe used to easily compare your translation against the English.ini)

Hi Chip!
Here I'm again with a new translation: this time DUTCH translation for version 1.0 build 58 (59 is in devellopment at the moment, I see)

Some points:
*) what is in fact 'Coffee' and 'Coffee Cup'? So, maybe I can find a better translation
*) the function 'Repeat search on current tab' and 'repeat search on all tabs' are not yet included in the language-files
*) I've got a black screen when I enter the 'preferences' (see attachment)

Some good points:
KEEP ON GOING! This is the best tool since Windows for me!

EDIT:
some minor translation errors removed and new language file uploaded

The translation in Dutch of '26=All' is '26=Alles'. (new dutch.ini included here)

P.S.: why is there an explanation mark in the language-file before 26?
P.P.S.: I can't login with my password from this forum to enable the Guevara-edition build 59  ???

Kinda stupid to see that my translation works, but my password doesn't ;D :)

EDIT:
Small revision of the Dutch translation re-uploaded

Good luck
Title: Re: OLD - Re: Bit Che - Translators Wanted!
Post by: chip! on December 14, 2006, 03:55:46 am
1.  The explanation mark gets automatically placed there by 'compare.exe' when it checks to see if that string line '26=' is in the language file or not. This makes it very easy for me to add new strings to 'English.ini' and not have to go manually edit each 'language.ini' adding new string lines. Also this makes it easier for the translators to browse through the file and quickly see which strings need attention.

I've just updated the build 59 installer with your latest Dutch.ini (also removed the ! in front of 26= since its no longer needed). Thank you!

2. I'm sorry that unlocking isn't working for you. I would like to resolve this as soon as possible. I checked the server log and it is telling me that it has failed you because it thinks your password is wrong. Now, most likely this is a 'bug' with my server registration code because your account is setup correctly in the database for access to the guevara edition.

OK, I just went over the PHP code for the registration and I removed code that forced the password to 'lowercase' before comparing the hashes. This might have been the problem if your password contains capitol letters? If so, try unlocking now. If that makes no difference, can you PM your password so I try to resolve this? I dont have access to your 'actual' password because they are saved as SHA-1 hashes into the database.

thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience  :-\

YESSSSS!
It's working now, actually you were right, my whole password contains only capitol letters  :) ;) :D ;D

You're the MAN!
P.S.: do I always have to keep an eye on this forum for when a new version comes out? If it's possible, you (or this forum) may send me an email so I know that I've gotta work again on the translation ;)

Hope to help you soon again!

Chip i asume that bit che checks automaticly for updates even when you never close it. if not please add an option in the preferences to check for update every x hours.

I think that almost every application should have tabs so I'm really happy for this new version!

I've made the complete Italian translation so enjoy  :P (godetevela!).

Here is the finnish build59 file

couple of comments:
- If a PC has no client, the bottom of the pages shows "no client detected". It pulls that info from "cmdNo" and "70" in language file. Both lines are also used in other instanses. Its not possible to form a message in proper finnish grammar by combining those two while also using those words elsewhere. May I sugguest that a new line will be added to the language file for this message. I would also suggest that no combination of two language file lines are ever use to ensure a proper translation is possible. Similar issue is thifrmAbout where the message is "frmAbout + Bit Che". It makes it difficult to translate properly in languages (like finnish) which rely on postpositions. To overcome this english.ini file should have "frmAbout=About Bit Che"
- Very minor issue: Changing a language does not update the borrom left hand corner "no client detected". Users rarely change language, so they will not see this
- Bit Che reports that it found Shareaze client (which is also installed) yet my default client is Azureus (which opens torrents when I select those in Bit Che). This might be my PC problem, has anyone else seen this?

Thanks!

Post by: chip! on December 15, 2006, 11:48:24 am
thanks for the update! I will certainly address those translations problems with the next version.

- as far as the detected client goes, it seems that there are 2 different places that Windows checks to see what program is associated with a file.. I added them both, but I think I might have them in the wrong "order" of which to check for first..  I'll switch them and then we'll see if that correctly detects Azureus in the next build..

cheers!

First - thanks for great program. :) It is one of the most useful and finely done download-related softwares I had ever seen.

I did russian translation for most of text (except guevara account stuff), but when I tried it I got same problem as posted about greek translation - ruined text in column names and status messages.

Attached file has russian text wherever it shows right and english where it is broken (most of it like seeders\leechers is common torrent knowledge anyway so I guess it's ok until program becomes capable of full cyrillic support). I tried my best to fit text on buttons but I had to shorten meaning of some strings, especially on open\save buttons because those words are much longer in russian.

No more issues for now, I'll update it if I stumble upon anything while using it (was translating offline so I could miss something). btw it's somewhat hard to translate what guevara edition is - because it's not even very clear in english (without visiting site). :)

Rast have you download the latest version of greek text? if i understand correctly you must have problems with unicode characters (except if you are using windows vista and you havent set correctly the language settings). You can write with greeklish any text that is not showned correctly (check the latest greek.ini to see what you have to write in greeklish. It is [list_results] and strings that you definetly have to make it greeklish but there are some more)
Title: Re: OLD - Re: Bit Che - Translators Wanted!

Ehm... I don't have a clue about greek. I just said that it seems I have similar problems with my russian translation. :)

I can transliterate parts where text is broken, but using transliteration of russian words with latin characters is often considered rude and dumb so I just left english text there for now.

Edit: updated translation. Translated remaining parts, changed days back to english because found that they are not showing correctly as well (couldn't see it without guevara access, which I have now, thanks :) ).

Hi again,
I am just adding a few observations since I submitted a Brazilian Portuguese version and there is already a translation to Portuguese.
There are differences in Brazilian Portuguese and Portuguese from Portugal, although it is possible to understand almost everything. However, it is usual that programs actually have two different versions for both languages. You can compare both translations and you will see that there are many different words/sentences. Other programs like Windows, Nero, uTorrent, BitComet, Azureus, ... have both versions.

  Best regards,

  Jonas Flores

Hello, guys  8)
Here is the Bulgarian translation to the latest Bit Che.

It looks very cool to have Bit Che to my native language  :D
but i also have weird charachers in the results when there is supposed to be bulgarian words...

Can I propose for the next release of Bit Che to support Unicode, or even better, UTF8 support for language files so that all will be ok.
Best regards and keep up the good work.  ;)

Hey, thanks for the translation  :D

Chip, the developer of the software, has had a little difficulty implementing Unicode. But last I heard he'd figured out a way of doing it and was well on the way to being a feature in a future build.

edit:     ps, do you know your CodePage and also CharSet for Bulgarian?

CentralEuro:
        codepage = "windows-1250"
        Font.Name = "Arial"
        Font.charset = 238

Does that sound right to you?
Title: Re: OLD - Re: Bit Che - Translators Wanted!
Post by: Rarst on January 07, 2007, 11:08:11 pm
That codepage is wrong, win1250 is used for european languages with latin alphabet, for those with cyrillic alphabet (like bulgarian and russian) win1251 is used.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codepage

No idea about "font.charset" thou, it seems like something more programming-specific. :)

ahhhh.. ok.. the codepages for each language is all new to me, but i have a list here, so im sure we'll get it all figured out once the next build gets released. here's what i got for Cyrillic:

Cyrillic
charset = "windows-1251"
Font.charset = 204

Post by: th3.r00t on January 09, 2007, 05:18:50 pm

Cyrillic
charset = "windows-1251"
Font.charset = 204

Yes, this is the charset for Cyrillic (Bulgarian, Russian)
As far as i know Russian also uses KOI8-R, which is an old charset and after Win 2k/XP they also use windows-1251

I have a few questions about the 1.0.59 French ini by Sabnorton.  I apologise if the format of this is too messy.

mnuLanguage=Langage
Why this and not "langues"?

size=Poids
Why this and not "Talle"?

cmdStop=Interrompre
Why this and not "Arrête"?

mnuAboutDlg=À propos de Bit Che
It is common to simply use "?" for this menu in French programs.

I am not saying that these are wrong, I am just curious.
Title: Re: OLD - Re: Bit Che - Translators Wanted!
Post by: chip! on January 11, 2007, 05:47:02 am
Hopefully Sabnorton will be around at some point to help shed some light on this. I, of course, would always want the most complete and accurate translation for the best possible user experience, so I'm always in favor of any changes that multiple people agree on. So, if you speak French and you agree with the changes, or prefer them the way they are, let us know your thoughts as well :)

EDIT 03.03.2007: Small update to the translation, 'cause I noticed that in the status bar where it should say "Done" the program doesn't support slovenian characters. Used another word for it.

EDIT 25.03.2007: Changed the translation of the term "dupe" to a more meaningful term.

I've just downloaded Bit Che and I've checked the spanish translation included. It's awful. It's more than awful. I doubt the one who made it know a single word in spanish, 'cause it's clear it's been translated using a web service or an app like Power Translator.

Anyway, I've made a new one in a few minutes and here it is. I've been unable to cross-check it all because I can find many of the strings in the app but I think is quite correct (i.e. I don't know wth the 'Coffee Cups' are, so I've left it untranslated) (which is the best thing to do most times).

I've also found several bugs in Bit Che regarding translating:

- In the status bar there's a message saying 'no client detected' when there's not a bittorrent client installed (well, detected, you should put a checkbox to disable this just in case someone's using a new or modified client). The string for this is: [Strings]70:, but it only contains 'client detected', so is bit tricky to translate 'cause 'no cliente detectado' is not well-said in spanish (in chinese it's got to be even worse).
- The window for 'Removed Results' doesn't read the strings from the translation file. Instead, it uses fixed strings in english.

One more thing: I've labeled the translation file as: "Español". It's the custom to use its own language for the language's name, so that in case someone doesn't speak a single word in english he or she can still read the language and change it.

Hope this is useful

P.S.: Excuse my klatchian but I'm not too fluent in english.

Hey there. I'm kinda new here and as I had nothing better to do and was bored, I thought to myself to do a bit translating.
I downloaded that "English.ini" from the first thread message to translate, and started to work on it. The beginning of the process were without problems of any kind. But, as I progressed deeper in to the file, the "problems" (One big one) begun. In "[list_results]" and "[strings]" (Those the only ones I can notice) translated lines, the application just doesn't "read" Hebrew properly. To show what exactly I mean, I took this screenshot:
With the blue color I marked the properly displayed Hebrew, and with the red, well "doh!", the "not" :D

Now as I myself can't understand why it happens there (Probably because Hebrew is read and written from right to left? But then again, why it doesn't happen in other parts of the translation?). I'm gonna attach the half finished file here (To get that "other" look) and wait for some help, before I can finish it completely ;D

Hey there, here's a Danish language .ini file.

One of the most unfortunate things about the danish language is that it is so long in text, however very short when actually saying it!  :P  ;)

I hope that qualifies me for a guevara edition  :D

Greets chip!

I've translated your english.ini into lithuanian, but when I switch the language to lithuanian, I don't see lithuanian letters like Ą Č Ę Ė Į Š Ų Ū Ž. these are Unicode characters i suppose.
And everything works, except that when I want to go to About menu About Bit Che section, Bit Che hangs up and doesn't respond to any try to exit, except Alt+F4.

I found maybe this will help to support lithuanian

Hi chip!

It's me again bothering you.

I've noticed that the "torrent details" form labels in lithuanian doesn't fit into the label.

Could you make the labels auto resize to the longest label string.

I guess you are programming Bit Che in VB.

If you are quite busy I could try to make this form code.

What do you think about it?

Hi! I have just finished the translation to the Latin American Spanish , because the Spanish that has
the application is very badly done, they did it with a bad program... it seems...
This my little contribution to the Bit Che...
I almost forget , I am Argentinian and i like Che Guevara :P

well i hope you use this spanish version 'cause the other is awful :S

hi GizmoiD, thanks for bringing that to my attention.. and yeah its written in VB6, so if you'd like to write up a quick function, I could implement that, but if not, I have added it to my todo list and I could easily address that in the next update :)

Hi!

I found that in VB6 it is possible to make the label autosize to the lenght of the text, so there's no need to write a specific function. Just make the label's property Autosize to TRUE.

Am I not right?
Title: Re: OLD - Re: Bit Che - Translators Wanted!
Post by: chip! on March 04, 2007, 10:31:32 am
well.. its a little more tricky than that because VB6's standard label controls do not support Unicode, so I implemented a special Unicode aware label control.. but even then its not really hard for me to allow those specific labels to autosize.. the trick then will be to resize all of the other controls and the form, etc, in proportion to the width of the label. in any case, I will be sure to address that with the next update..  thanks for the feedback :)

I would appreciate it if someone would use it in a sentence or explain in what context I should use it.

Code: [Select]
dupe Pronunciation (dp, dyp)
n.
1. An easily deceived person.
2. A person who functions as the tool of another person or power.
tr.v. duped, dup·ing, dupes

Though I would have thought it was an abbreviation of Duplicate
Code: [Select]
du·pli·cate Pronunciation (dpl-kt, dy-)
adj.
1. Identically copied from an original.
2. Existing or growing in two corresponding parts; double.

Hi!

I did ukrainian translation for most of text (except guevara account stuff), but when I tried it I got same problem as posted about russian translation - ruined text in column names and status messages.

Attached file has ukrainian text wherever it shows right and english where it is broken (most of it like seeders\leechers is common torrent knowledge anyway so I guess it's ok until program becomes capable of full cyrillic support).

 ;)

Hi there!

I'm posting the CORRECTED Polish translation. The one made by Lenrok had some strange mistakes, like "mnuViewRemoved" was translated as "the view that was removed", etc.

This one should be fine. If someone has any comments/recommendations, feel free to contact me!

Instructions for translating Bit Che into your language:

1. Download the latest version of the English translation file:
http://www.convivea.com/download/English.ini

2. Save 'English.ini' to the new language you are translating to. For example:  'NewLanguage.ini'
Put this file in your "C:\Program Files\Bit Che\Languages\" directory (unless you installed it somewhere else).

3. Edit this 'NewLanguage.ini' and translate only the text to the right of the '=' signs.  For example,  if you see   "mnuH=Hello"  then only translate the word 'Hello'.

4. Load up Bit Che and check to make sure the translations appear correctly. You might need to shorten the text for some of the buttons to appear correctly.

5. Once you are pleased with your results, attach your language file here to a forum post:
To do this, make a reply post here in this thread. While you are editing your post, you will see a link at the bottom that says "(Additional Options)".. click that and a file upload box will be displayed which will allow you to attach your language.ini straight to your post here.

and then you are done!

If you have any questions or any problems, don't hesitate to ask!   :)

Ps, I have a large database of country flags so you don't need to worry about the country flag icon.

Thank you in advance!
-chip

turegum's Tips for translators:

- Download and install Azureus (or uTorrent) and then toggle between English an your own language (tools-options-interface-language).

Hey guys
Thanks for the activation, now I have some comments about the program:
there are some things that still come in English (and their strings don't appear in the language.ini), e.g.:
- Close Tab (when you hold cursor over the tab's X icon)
- Search! (cursor over "Search" button)
- Include results based on the torrent descriptions and filenames ("Include Description Searches" checkbox)
- Donate and Support Bit Che! ("PayPal Donate" button)
- Close All Tabs (X button below the "PayPal Donate" btn)
- Guevara Edition (the "About" window)

Also, I corrected some things that didn't fit in the spaces in the Guevara Edition (cause I didn't know what they would look like, until I got the activation), so I'm re-submitting the Polish translation.

edit: some more things with missing strings:

In the REMOVED RESULTS window:
- window title
- names of all the columns (name, size, seeders, leechers, ratio, source, reason)

Tools -> Update Scripts (everything: updating scripts, connecting, update complete, all scripts have been updated, etc)

hi,

i have been using this nifty piece of software for a small while now. so, here is my estonian translation for it. hopefully someone has some use for it. some things i was unable to test (Guevara Edition). of course, language file will be revised and updated (and 'prettyfied') when needed and possible.
keep up the good work,

rgrds,
ronin

edit: how can i translate removed results window? plain adding [removed_results] didn't help.
edit edit: heh, it did. pretty nifty. why is [removed_results] section missing in the original .ini file?
edit edit edit: managed to attach updated eesti.ini file.

If you enable me Guevara account, I will test all translated words and I find and repair all mistakes because I hate, when the words have not right sense. After that I will send you this repaired translation...

OK, I'll get right on it. What kind of encoding do I need to use? I noticed that some hungarian letters work, while others don't (they either get 'truncated' or are displayed like gibberish).

Well, I would say ONLY italian1.ini file maybe  :D because italian2.ini file has all the "preferences" area completely untranslated  ;D In fact, not for a case, MinLo asked me to make a new Italian translation and gave me access to the Guevara Edition  ;D

Found this program yesterday from a ftp and first tried it this morning. A great program I will be recommending to my friends too.

Here is my Estonian translation. I couldn't find these strings in program GUI

31=To:
34=dupe

and without knowing the exact context couldn't translate them. If you could provide me with screenshots of them I could fix this too. Also I couldn't test the Guevara edition parts, since I don't have access to them.

I noticed that there is no Swedish translation available, even if it was assigned a translator.

So now I have one which is done!

I have a Cambridge Certificate in English, and the entire translation has been reviewed by a swedish language teacher.

Yours truly, Andreé.

I have discovered my mistake, and apologize. However, I would like to direct you attention to the existing Swedish translation. There are a number of misspellings, text lines that are too long to fit inside the window and in some places the original English text has not even been removed.

Does Karil want to correct this, or should my version replace the old one?

Please comment on this.

Greetings,

I noticed a small spell error in the Dutch Translation:
At preferences screen the 5th option says: "Open Zoekopdrdachten in Nieuwe Tabs" 'Zoekopdrdachten' needs to be 'Zoekopdrachten'
and the about screen is a bit too small to see all text, so making it just slightly bigger would be nice :)

Love the program btw :D

I guess I've almost done with the Japanese version, however, because of its 2byte character structure; some sentences cannot be translated into Japanese. If I did, Bit Che could not handle them... So I put these English terms as they are..
Since I'm not a "Guevara edition" user, I'm not sure if those related sentences could be shown correctly.  Sorry about it.

Well, here's the Japanese.ini.txt.  I hope this would help some guys.

P.S.  I've got a question for you.  When I tried to open a torrent file made/saved by Bit Che, my µTorrent won't open the torrent file even though I associated torrents with it.  It says "Can not open Invalid torrent file".  What's going on???  So, at this moment, my only option is to copy “Torrent URL to Clipboard” and paste it to my µTorrent.  Is there any good ways?  Would you please help me?

There's a Revised JAPANESE.INI, so please check "Reply #254"!!!

Using Windows XP Japanese Version and Having Problem Opening torrents found by Bit Che?
Then please check the following Topic and Use the Revised 'x.exe' of Reply #15!!

You may also check the Topic of "Tokyotosho.com script" and Use 'tokyotosho.ini' of Reply #1.

BUT You can use Japanese Roman Character with Bit Che for Searching!
In Tokyotosho.com, so many Japanese torrents are available.

Missing translation stuff noticed:

 - translated string for "Clear Search History" is not loading
 - translated strings in "Removed results" are not loading

I don' t know if you remember me, but some time ago I improved Lenrok's Polish translation (sucked). Now I downloaded the newest version and what do you know - my ini file is there, but it still says that it's Lenrok's. Hope you change the info on that.

BTW attaching a newer version with the new strings translated.

Addition to my comments Today at 05:53:31 AM post on Bit Che - 1.0 build 59 thread, I noticed that "Example Cup" will remain in English because it is the name of the coffee file. I don't know if there is a quick solution to translate this.

Rarst  are you using the program compare in the language folder in order to find out the missing strings that you have to add and translate?
Chip when checking for a new version the strings connecting etc doesnt still support unicode

Thanks, that compare thing added missing and changed strings for me totranslate but that doesn't fix "removed results" window - all strings (column names) there are in english even when they are translated and showing properly in main window.

Unicode is ok for me everywhere in interface... Not ok in search results as mentioned in build 60 release topic.

That's exactly what I did in the first place: I translated the file from sratch and put my name in it and uploaded it. What I mean is: check out the "available languages" list - over there you can see "Polish - lenrok" instead of me. And the polish.ini file that comes with the newest version is also lenrok's old (and crappy) version.

Hi Chip

I have detected that the Swedish language file contained a lots of wrong spellings and that many of the words didn't fit in the program.
So I have done my own translation that works perfect. I have added all the new words as well so it support the new version of Bit Che.

I hope this will help!

Some words were deliberately not translated (like "seeder/leecher") because they have "no sense" translated!  ;)

I updated Slovenian Language, some strings were not translated, i corrected some. I would also say that there are two ini files - slovenian.ini and slovene.ini. I updated slovenian.ini, since it appears there's a newer and more complete. Maybe you should delete slovene.ini in next release.

There are still a few things in English in the Dutch interface and there was a little mistake. I'm a noob so I have no idea if this already came to your attention.

Here goes
1) Under Over (About) the drop down menu mentions forums. The correct words is fora. One forum, two fora.
2) The pop up after you update the scripts is still in English "All scripts are updated." In Dutch that would be "Alle scripts zijn geüpdatet"
3) Under hulpmiddelen (Tools) the last option in the drop down menu is also in English. "Clear search history" should be "zoekhistorie wissen"
4) Under Opties (options) Voorkeuren has to be "Voorkeursinstellingen"
5) Under Hulpmiddelen (tools) there is something quite confusing (hence the reason I visited the forum).
It says gelijke kopieen (similar match) en exacte kopieen (exact match). Since gelijk en exact are pretty much the same thing, a better translation would be
"Verwijder soortgelijke resultaten" (similar) and "verwijder exact dezelfde resultaten" (exact)

Although I must admit it's kinda difficult to translate "match" into Dutch in this context. Currently it says "kopieen", but that means copy.
Maybe it's an idea to replace "match" with "results" like in the first option of that specific drop down menu.

1  and 4 are like really minor mistakes, but the correct spelling is really fora. :P. Even though a lot of people use it like that.

If I bump into anything else, I'll post it here. I hope I was not being too arrogant.

Although I must admit it's kinda difficult to translate "match" into Dutch in this context. Currently it says "kopieen", but that means copy.

(kopieen) = kopieën  ;D
Dutch is pretty difficult with all those grammatical rules. ;)
(Not that my grammar is the best) ;)

the problem is that matches untranslatable is (NL-EN)
Match is made of 2 or more words in Dutch.

Verwijder Gelijke Kopieën = remove the same corpies
Verwijder precies dezelfde resultaten = remove exactly the same results
precies = exactly = exact
dezelfde = the same

match exists in dutch.
if you translate it back the meaning will be different.
match => overeenkomen => agree

overeenkomen has other forms of use in dutch.
after transflation it will be not the good word in english.

match can not be translated exactly in english.  ;)

So the best transflation will be  "verwijder exact dezelfde resultaten"

Would be good flexible buttons or large buttons. Elsewhere would be a good long line. For example:

Hebrew 2.0.60 translation file. checked and it looks perfect, everything fits and is in place (checked with freeware) . also did not use 'Pukiman' translation. this is a complete translation not only GUI.
Wish you all the best from Israel.
