More emotions could be cool, but could we keep it to fairly subtle ones, not stupidly big ones with lots of bright animation (like from my experiance a lot of Chinese forums have) it just makes posts looks ghastly.

those bright flashy ones are great for birthdays, or valentines day, something like that, but the more subtle ones, like what I posted are great.

Oh yeah I guess, just they often seem to be horrible over used.  To be honest, I still love my text emoticons ^__^

Is my CPU too small???

i've got a problem....when i use Windows Live Messenger, with my web cam, my CPU is running at around 90 to 100. If i'm downloading, it distorts my cam pics and audio :(
my CPU is...2.07 gig AMD Athlon, with 1536 megabytes installed memory.

any ideas guys???

Yeah Windows Life Messenger is the worst written code I've ever seen in terms of wasting up CPU cycles. Might be able to help you out a little by showing you how to remove it's crap adverts and stuff, but I'm not sure any other programs that support MSN support it's webcam chat.

What CPU is it exactly? Download CPU-Z if you don't know: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

;D As an update. Had a look at the new AGP x1950 Pro HIS card. It says on the box Turbo 594mzh engine speed and 1.54GHZ mem speed which is different from my original link. I presume this is still reasonable?
cheers

:/, the Pro isn't as good as the XT, but it's still pretty good.

Depends exactly what you want to copy. If it's just files and stuff, then copy and paste will do. If it's program files and stuff, a lot can be copied along yourself if you know where to copy from and too and remember to set-up the short-cuts yourself some times, though some need complex windows registry, but I often find their just worth re-installing on a fresh windows rather than trying to copy the whole of windows as an image.

That software looks good but it's only for Seagate Harddrives (seagate now own maxtor). What exactly do you need the software to do?

;D  OK got the pentium 4  3.0GHZ 2MB Cache socket 775 for under £20 on e-bay. Now for an extra £11 need opinion on the following Mobo. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131143/show_product_specifications The original mobo will be ok, and all I need is thermal paste and a suitable Case from £10-17. . So all in all a very cheap build. All sorts of connectors and fans lying around.
cheers

That mobo looks fine, just make sure it supports your type of RAM and stuff. I've never had a problem with an ASRock mobo (though funilly enough, their owners ASUS I've has endless problems with).

Seems to have both a PCI-e and AGP graphics slots, will be good if you ever find get given a better PCI-e graphics card I guess  :P

I love cold weather, rather be in 2 inches of snow than a hot sunny day.

If you submit good torrent sites, someone might be kind enough to write a script for you.

Quantum, looking at your sugested Mobo and without going overboard on the P4 would the following be ok or do I need something slightly better to run the card. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134552. It does offer more alternatives on E- buyers.
tks for the input.
cheers

Ugh..., the problem with going down this road of "if I'm getting a better item X, why don't I get a better item y?" is pretty quickly you've found yourself in the position of having bought an almost whole new computer for slightly more than it would actually cost to buy a whole new computer and with far inferior specs.

For a few pounds less than that CPU you can but this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/136311 .That CPU is as powerful running on single core, but it has 2 cores...

But yeah I guess that CPU is o.k, it's at least on 65nm design... Though still probably runs hot as hell compared to any modern CPU.

Bit Che build 60 has just been in development that long, it has a few major features, but also Chip has also had real life stuff getting in the way.

Anyway, I know certain features are well on their way to being done, 'improved tab support', 'improved Vista support', 'unicode support' and new parsing api. Bit Che doesn't entirely remain stale though, scripts are regularly updated, if you go to "Tools > Update Scripts" it'll update scripts for you.

Go in to your limewire setting (tools > options, or something like) there will be a setting somewhere which says something like "limewire is default program for .torrent", turn that off.

;D Tks ZC and Quantum.
The following is a bunch of info which seems sadly outdated.lol

Mobo is 6 yrs old,with 544pin BGA
core voltage 1.85
mem timings 2,2,2,5,7,
AGP ver 2.0
4x AGP
PSU is Bestec model no ATX1956F
Although it says 200w max. Recommended 150w
Outside dimensions of case are approx 20x35-37cm
Mobo looks to be about 26x26 cm
Now.!!! I still have 2 cool sink fans for the 775 socket CPU as follows
1)AKASA DC 12v ballbearing.
2)Intel SY22D P2 DC 12V 0.42A from NIDEC CORP (lots of other numbers).
A recommendation for a cheap new mobo which would fit into present case? Might be a tall order since new boards are so much bigger. Remember its me not a gamer and anything with socket 775. Would be willing to purchase case to fit. The card would keep me going for quite a while.
Start yer clocks.lol
TKS
cheers

FYI I just purchased ATX 500w psu from Tekheads for £8.99 +p&p .

:/. the PSU will probably do you alright for such an old system. Just never buy something like that for a new system, a good quality PSU is seen as the backbone of a good modern computer these days (mainly because who wants to run the risk of it frying their brand new components?).

God knows what CPUs this actually supports, but it says the Pentium 4 line so should be o.k: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/113839 . I've long given up trying to work out which LGA775 mobo fits which LGA775 CPU. Say what you want about AMDs socket changes, but at least socket xxx mobo will almost always work with socket xxx CPU (even if a BIOS update is needed) and occasionally socket yyy CPU will fit in socket xxx mobo.

You'd probably find a better deal on eBay or Amazon marketplace though
