P2P - Filesharing / How to spot fake torrents
« on: October 27, 2013, 10:38:05 pm »
Hi guys,

Before it's demise, isohunt.com was really good, as there was a comments system where fake torrents were flagged up by other members. Now that's gone I'm a bit stuck.

Has anyone got any tips on spotting fakes?

Thanks in advance.

Bugs & Feature Requests / No Torrent Client Installed!
« on: October 27, 2013, 09:23:28 pm »
Every time I run the BC client, I get a message on the screen telling me that:

========================================
Bit Che is a search program and does not download files. A 'torrent client' is required to download 'torrents'.

Bit Che has detected that you do not have a 'torrent client' installed to download 'torrents'.

Would you like information about installing a 'torrent client'?

[Yes] [No] <-- these are yes/no buttons.
========================================

I do have a torrent client installed. It is the latest version of Tixati, which I have been using for years. Is this an issue with Bit Che or is it just the two programmes not playing nice?

Just to be clear, Bit Che works fine for me as does Tixati and it's not a great inconvenience clicking the 'No' button, but I figured that maybe someone else might be having the same problem.

Bit Che - Info & Updates / Re: OLD -- Re: How did you hear about Bit Che?

I found it via Google, after isohunt went down the other day. Sadly, I can't remember the exact search phrase I used, but I'm glad I clicked the link :D

I don't know how useful this will be for you guys, but I have run MediaPortal on everything from Windows XP to Windows 8 and it works on all of them. It's now the preferred solution on my Media PC, which the family uses to watch TV shows and movies.

Computers - Technology / Re: Broadband speeds.
« on: October 27, 2013, 08:41:17 pm »
hi I test the speed of my internet in many sites I got the best and accurate speed results from this site http://www.scanmyspeed.com/
my results are
download=1.04Mbps
upload=0.77Mbps.

Did you choose the extended option before you tested your speed? I didn't select it the first time I ran the test, and it came up with a ridiculously low figure, (something like 1.3 mb/s) but when I selected the extended test the figure was much more accurate, at something along the lines of 37 megs.

I couldn't see a section for new members to say hello, so I guess this'll have to do...

Hello! So glad I found this forum! :D
