General Discussion / Help for older cowboys.
« on: January 07, 2015, 08:23:05 am »

A very great hello to all the members.  I`m finding it difficult to find the little things I used to remember.

I presume that there is not ;) a "shout box" to amuse some of us :)

Had tried send a short message to CHIP or chip, but was not recognized.

Greetings to all

Computers - Technology / Windows 7 extra`s
« on: June 15, 2011, 04:02:28 am »
;D  Now that you lot got me to change to Win 7 I have a few small items which you can say yeh or no.

1) System Boost using a usb stick?(flash memory).  I formatted a 4 GB stick and choose " ready boost" using dedicate this stick . 4 GB stick was all I have free at moment but I did notice a little increase/sharpness in performance. Since I have 6 GB triple ram and really should try a bigger stick. In some cases can use 8 devices up to 256GB. Thoughts?

2) Gaining 20% extra bandwith on pc.  Very simple to access using run "gpedit.msc" Will add link if needed. Does not upset running and works great.

Computers - Technology / Don`t dump your older pc parts
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:08:16 am »
;D Since my better half told me to spring clean my pc parts I have been having fun selling items on local sites.
People are still running older pc`s and when they can buy a processor, case or motherboard for £10-30 which is better, it keeps everyone happy.
So think before you dump.
cheers

Anyone need a Pentium 4 cpu. >:D

General Discussion / Religion and our members
« on: May 02, 2011, 08:50:35 am »
;D First I would like to make this a fairly light hearted topic and not a Bible or Quran thumping debate.
Some of our members come from many different countries and religions, some like myself have no time for hatred towards others.
It would be great to hear what you all think about religion,or maybe don`t give a toss.

I noticed that since religion started that the main goal was to get rid of others that did`nt share your belief`s. The church has been the cruellist taskmaster over many hundred`s of years,death,be-heading,stoning etc.
So why is every church bent on destruction of others.

Give us some feedback. I know most don`t want to talk about religion.( If you speak I`ll answer)

cheers

Computers - Technology / Win XP mode Virtual PC
« on: April 27, 2011, 11:58:15 am »
;D Not even gonna start this topic tonight. Virtual XP on Windows 7. Great idea until you update.
Original file started out at 500MB, No problem for a half decent pc,and downloaded quickly.
What they didnt tell you is that you have approx 170 XP updates to update, including service packs/updates to service packs. Then you add usual Flash/reader/antivirus prog,+others. Its just like doing a complete install of a new OS.
Got all that done, have my oldest game GT Legends installed after finding a good copy of direct X 8.1. Maybe Burnout Paradise and Need for Speed most wanted will be easier. Havent even tried to install my Wingman FF GP wheel yet [rolleyes]
Still theres hope. >:D
Anyone thats done this before, please give a shout and help.
cheers

Computers - Technology / partition vista 64bit for XP?
« on: April 17, 2011, 05:17:09 am »
Can I partition part of my vista 64bit  HD and install  say XP or vista 32 bit ?
I have 700gb free at moment, would 300/400gb be ok or too much. I have the cdrom`s.
Would it be any easier if I put another formatted HD into pc,gave it a letter and installed XP on this?
Basically thinking of way to allow me to play older games or will windows still block due to no signature.

Appreciate any help
cheers

Gaming / Old wheel uncovered
« on: April 07, 2011, 10:00:58 am »
;D Was cleaning out my old junk and came across my old Wingman steering wheel. It is the LOGITECH formula force gp with force feedback.
Used to use this when playing the original "need for speed". I realise this is old by todays games, but can I still download anything that could give me a bit of fun? Did throw out most of my older cdrom`s.
My reactions today are a bit like Billies, ie. we would like to play, but holding the thought requires concentration.lol
Do I still need original cdrom¬s ?
cheers

Computers - Technology / wireless printers
« on: March 19, 2011, 12:47:22 pm »
Hi, now that I`m starting to get the hang of this modern world, :D  I bought a new wireless printer. Extremely easy to set up for all pc`s in house. Bunged the printer into a closet and now we can all print from any pc in house when we want. Printer was very cheap and provides good copies and speed. No doubt there are more expensive models out there, but in todays age ink can come cheaply from many different sources.
Well pleased.
cheers

ps. Yes it was an HP. >:D

;D Hi you lot. Is it really worth my time to change from Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit to Win 7 after all this time ? Will it make billy answer me quicker or have the Half finally decode my problems.
Naw!!  Only money  needed, I1ll wait till next OS soon.lol
