Music - Movies - TV / [Movie] - Grindhouse
« on: April 14, 2007, 01:59:45 pm »
Alright here's another movie post.

It's not out here for a few weeks but what does everyone think of Grindhouse?

Apparently people aren't quite understanding the concept of it, especially that it's a double feature (people leaving after the first movie ends, etc).

Bugs & Feature Requests / Wikipedia
« on: March 16, 2007, 12:31:02 pm »
I was going to do this myself, but I have no knowledge of how to create articles in Wikipedia so thought it would be better if someone else did, rather than my taking a while to work out what's happening!

I thought Bit Che would benefit from having an article in Wikipedia, especially if it linked back to the Bit Torrent article. This should up the traffic coming through here and probably spread the word around?

Just an idea.

Bugs & Feature Requests / Torrentspy
« on: February 09, 2007, 11:08:39 am »
With any torrent originating from TorrentSpy, Bit Che always tries to open cdcovers.cc for some reason? I doubt that it's a bug because more people will be telling me about it, but is there something I've changed accidentally? I went into edit for the torrentspy script and there's no reference to cdcovers. It's odd?

It's a long article, but to put a long story short, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, wants to abolish DRM to boost sales --

Computers - Technology / GPU
« on: February 02, 2007, 10:42:42 pm »
Ok since a few members on here seem to know a hell of a lot more about GPUs than anyone I know I'd thought I'd ask, what would be the best graphics card for me to buy? I'm looking to spend no more than $200 AUS which is about $150 USD or £80. From what I can see that's in Australia I'd be looking at getting either a 6600 GT, 7300GT or a 7600GS (note that I don't know a lot about any other GPU brands other than NVIDIA... of which my knowledge is limited anyway) whichever is better.

Also if anyone knows how to get a better deal from someone, info would be appreciated.

Note that I don't play many games so I don't really care how the latest game would run on the graphics card... but I do video editing so I need something with a bit of guts (but not looking for anything too fantastic yet).

Also if someone could look at this?

I'm thinking a 7900GTX at that price with a bit over a day to go... there must be a catch (other than it's not new)?
Sold for a reasonable price.

Offbeat Relish / For Kyo (But also an interesting read)

I thought of this article when kyo posted

I am all for PS3, even if it is highly expensive, in shortage, and won't release any "newFolder" that I can watch in blueRay.
About the PS3. Seems there is a lot of irony he didn't (or maybe did) realise when posting that!

Sony, Shunning Porn Producers, May Hurt Blu-ray Sales

Sony may have shot itself in the foot by resolving not to permit its disc duplicators to produce "adult content" on Blu-ray discs, several consumer electronics and DVD websites observed Thursday. One adult-film producer, Digital Playground, told the British online publication The Inquirer, that it had decided to switch from Blu-ray to HD DVD because "Sony has said to the replicators that if you replicate adult, you'll lose your license." The Inquirer quoted Jake Richter, an analyst at Jon Peddie Research as saying in a report to clients that many people believe that Sony's Betamax video tape format died because the adult movie industry was barred from using it. "Is Sony doomed to repeat one of the mistakes of the past? It seems like that may be the case," he wrote. Likewise, PC World magazine commented that Sony ought to "remember what happened more than two decades ago, when the adult film industry was forced to produce its content on VHS, and not Sony's Betamax." However, Martin Lynch of the IDG news service wrote that some porn produces are in fact finding Blu-ray disc manufacturers who are willing to work with them, adding, "You can say a lot of things about Sony but stupid isn't one of them. Well, most of the time anyway. There is no way that Sony can ignore the boost that porn can give the Blu-ray format."

Music - Movies - TV / [Movie] - Crash
« on: December 28, 2006, 11:27:42 pm »
It has become cliche to say that Crash is "crap" "the worst film of last year" etc. BUT only online. I am yet to actually MEET someone that says that about Crash, in fact the people I physically talk about Crash to agree with me that it is one of the best films they have seen. I think Crash has a case of 'it won best picture therefore, Academy Awards are bias and therefore the film must be discredited'. Similar things happened to Million Dollar Baby (vs Aviator).

I'm just looking to see opinions of this. What do you think?

Note: I'm expecting to see replies such as "Crash is the dumbest piece of shit ever". Ok i have no probs that you think that, all I'm trying to ask is, can you appreciate it?

Personally the fact that films are "entertainment" has been severely lost in the publics mind!

Music - Movies - TV / Best Movie of 2006
« on: December 24, 2006, 05:23:50 pm »
Now that 2007 is [nearly] over what in your opinions were the highlights of your time at the cinema (or DVD...).

In my opinion it was:

Children of Men
The Prestige

although I haven't seen all the ones I would have liked to.

Top contender for the Oscar is The Departed. I personally don't think it was by far all that great... ok at best. I'm interested if someone thought it was a brilliant movie to tell me why? I'm thinking maybe there was something I missed...

I see the Departed has been released in the US. Have to wait for a month for it to be released here (typical!) and I'm keen to see it. Has anyone seen it already?
