For those who follow Hinduism in India and world-wide, a Ganesha statue is well known and can be seen in most practicing homes. Ganesha is the God of wisdom, knowledge and new beginnings. He is also a patron of the arts and sciences and remover of obstacles. He is a beloved deity with easily recognizable features which include the head of an elephant, a rounded belly and the letter “OM” on his palm or forehead. Many different variations of Ganesha can be found over the many years since the deity has emerged. These varied images can depend on the area of where they began, or the incarnation they are presenting. He can be seen sitting or standing, heroically holding a trident, riding a mouse or holding a bowl of sweets which he was known to be fond of.Hindu Statues
