Umm it's a tracker pad and I don't know if the mouse would do the same thing. I haven't tried one but I know we are not gently touching it because I tried it from across the room.  Huh

Hi all!

The new Dell laptop came and although we managed to get it all hooked up and ready to go, it does something odd. The pointer will hover over something and after a few moments, will automatically click it. Without me touching a thing!
I never changed the mouse options to do this and thought it to be a very strange default. At first it seemed really cool until I was doing something important and it just automatically closed it out.

I have windows xp home edition on it and wondered if it was something I could take care of myself without an hour long Dell conversation.  Huh
I looked it up online but have not been able to find an answer. Thought I would ask you all.

Thanks!

Quit whining. Next August, you will wish for a bit of that snow to offset the muggy heat.  Grin  Grin

In Seattle, we had a white Christmas. Now I am ready for Spring.     Smiley

Lol
Actually I'm great with heat and need to perhaps move to an island.  Wink

ok.  I added more.  If it's too much I am sorry, but thought these covered birthday, everything.

Hope this meets with peoples approvals. They would perhaps be better sorted into categories, but i didn't know how to do that.. cos they should really be under the more option.. sorry.

lol thanks! Just the one I asked for!

I think they are great! I was worried at first that it would take me away from the page so I was pleasantly surprised to find it come up in the little box. Nice one!

No worries!
I used to live in Illinois and dealt with it for years. I promised myself when I moved south however that I would move to a place that had NO snow. I was also promised it didn't snow at ALL in Georgia. Someone lied.

you prob brought the snow with you Luv...lol
No, no
Not possible. Have been out of Illinois for a good 6 years. Just moved to Georgia from Louisiana last year. Thought I might bring some rain here.. but that didn't work well. haha
Snow is gone though and its a nice round 70 degrees now ..ahhhh

More emotions could be cool, but could we keep it to fairly subtle ones, not stupidly big ones with lots of bright animation (like from my experiance a lot of Chinese forums have) it just makes posts looks ghastly.

those bright flashy ones are great for birthdays, or valentines day, something like that, but the more subtle ones, like what I posted are great.

Oh yeah I guess, just they often seem to be horrible over used.  To be honest, I still love my text emoticons ^__^

oh I had a friend once, and that was all he used.. couldn't for the life of me understand what he was saying.  He used them all the time, at least with the little ones you know exactly what they are.  The text emoticons are so yesterday, time has changed, and one day Quantum, your going to feel old at your young age for using them.. Smiley  Times move so quickly in this technological age.

I am so busted on this as well. I use a program where no smileys are available and I still find myself doing the

Grin That doesnt sound right. Have you tried e-bay or Amazon? They are pushing Vista from all corners now but I still like XP. You could always get a laptop with a decent mobo in it and have it updated with recent cpu plus more ram.
cheers
I thought about ebay and amazon but the pc I have now I got through Dell and everytime I have a problem, they are right there with support. Of course I paid extra to have the support but my computer is covered until the year 2011. What I was afraid of was if I bought it anywhere else but Dell, I would have to take it somewhere whenever anything happened with it. I'm so spoiled with my 'free' customer support! =) Do things from ebay and such come with those warranties and such coverage?

Had Norton years back. Only had one or 2 issues. Have had Mcafee since we bought this computer 2 yrs ago. Few problems with it too. I hate that customer support is always someone I can't understand and that they are usually either more ignorant of the issue than I am, or having a horrible day and have the patience of a 2 year old.
Good tips on the free programs, thanks!

I love my XP and have heard bad things about Vista. What stinks is that I'm trying to buy a new laptop from dell and I have to pay more to have XP? Well that just stinks!
