Vancouver looks like a tough team to beat. It's going to be a close series between them and the preds.

Have you used Hulu to stream any of the games? Does it work for that? Crazy if it does..

It's too bad AMD is so far behind Intel. I love Intel but I don't want them to become too dominant, competitiveness is good for progression.

Intel has still managed to progress very significantly even despite little competitiveness though.

General Discussion / Re: Al Qaeda Leader Osama Bin Laden Killed
« on: May 02, 2011, 03:21:45 pm »
well.. everyone dies at some point, so i would rather ask the skeptics to prove that Bin Laden is still alive.

if no one can prove he is alive, then at some point, it is safe to assume he is dead.

however, if no one can prove he is dead, it is NOT safe to assume he is alive.   (Elvis)

also,   if the President lied to the world and Osama was not shot and killed, then had a burial in the ocean, then.. what?  he's still alive and we are faking a huge elaborate scheme that he is dead.. why would we do that? to me that makes the least sense. and again, easily proven that Bin Laden is alive (if he was in fact).

but if he died a while ago, and we are just now pretending that he died recently..  well, he's still dead!

interesting: about releasing the photos, videos, dna samples, everything else they have proving he's dead.

Touche chip, I agree the chances of him being dead are close to 100%. The chances of him dying this past weekend are a little less, but still pretty damn good. Your logic is sound.

It's too bad the leaked photo is fake:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/02/osama-bin-laden-photo-fake

I just wish they would release a real photo to offer closure for some of the other doubtful people. I will trust my government about 90% on this scenario. They can say all they want with DNA testing and so forth but there hasn't been any hardcore evidence released to the public to confirm his death.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but you gotta take these claims with a grain of salt.

I don't think that file will be of much use to you. And can you stop using white font? I can't read it.

Mobile Phones / Streaming HBO on your phone!
« on: April 29, 2011, 02:56:13 am »
This is an excellent idea:

http://www.androidcentral.com/hbo-go-android-here-we-go-hands

But it also shows how much providers have to improve their network infrastructure. Can you imagine how congested the network would be if everyones tarted streaming video on their phones too?

Reminds me of the exaflood and youtube.

They added WiMax support on the EVO a while back. I'm not sure about the Epic though but you should check back as a lot of development has been going on! CM is gaining popularity.

Yeah video chat:

Doesn't mean crap for me though as I don't have a rear-facing camera :/

edit: doesn't seem like much is going on for the Epic 4G. most of the devs work on Evo.

Mobile Phones / Android 2.3.4 and proprietary binaries pushed to AOSP
« on: April 28, 2011, 09:29:51 am »
I've been running Android 2.3.3 for a while now on my Incredible with CyanogenMod. 2.3.4 just got released to AOSP so it should be out for CM shortly. Adds some great google talk features including video chat and voice (free VoIP essentially, I think).

MP3 Checker / Re: not detecting skips
« on: April 28, 2011, 06:46:27 am »
I would not try to fix broken mp3's. If they are skipping or have distortion then your source of .mp3 is bad. There are very good sources of .mp3s elsewhere.

Computers - Technology / Re: Win XP mode Virtual PC
« on: April 27, 2011, 02:01:52 pm »
That's one of the reasons why I don't recommend winXP anymore. If you're installing it on a new machine (virtual or not, I just mean in general), it takes ages to finish updating and installing all the drivers.

Win7 comes packed with A LOT more drivers and has much better device recognition, the best of any windows OS I've seen.

« on: April 25, 2011, 05:47:13 am »
win7 has a lot of advantages,

much better boot up times and performance.
very handy hybrid sleep mode ( i dunno if Vista had this)
subtle and nice graphics and interface upgrades.
better driver support.
better support for TRIM/SSD if you plan on getting one later (or if you already have one)

That's a good idea, once a month sounds fine to me.
