General Discussion / Re: NHL

Bruins are down 0-2, things are not looking to good. I will continue to cheer and watch the Celtics, they just BARELY won today's Game 1 in the playoffs vs. the Knicks. :p

Some people like either basketball or hockey, since they are mainly the two major north american sports that overlap seasons almost entirely. I like both though. :)

I've been watching the red sox too lately. They've been sucking pretty bad but the 8-1 win today was pretty sweet.

I'm a little confused, but I'd like to keep my music in .mp3 format. .mp4/.aac is kinda superfluous given it only provides minuscule audio improvement for the same bitrate. Look at how badly .ogg failed, too.

It's better to keep the standard because most people already have their collection in mp3, and nobody wants a collection with mixed file formats. If you want better audio, FLAC is definitely the way to go though.

V0 VBR mp3 seems to be the standard nowadays and gives excellent sound quality for the storage size. It is the best format, IMHO.

Looks like tomorrow is the big day for both the bruins and sabres games. We're playing the canadiens.

i7-920 is a damn good quality processor. You probably got it at least a few years ago and it still competes with the newest stuff in terms of bandwidth and clocks aside.

I haven't made the move to i7 yet, still running on core2extreme (quad).

Has that Gigabyte mobo ever given you problems? I had a GB a long time ago and will never get one again.

You mean like the blackout where they're not allowed to show games in certain regions? Most of these sites are immune to that since they are streamed by contributors all over the globe.

If the game is available somewhere on some channel, chances are you will be able to stream it.

Music - Movies - TV / Re: [MOVIE] Skyline
« on: April 11, 2011, 11:19:48 pm »
If you like alien movies, Skyline may still be worth a watch but I can't say it is a good movie.

Battle: LA is a pretty damn good movie, though sometimes I found the acting to be somewhat cheesy, other people have thought the same thing. I'm not sure how that happened considering most of the actors are pretty well known and experienced. Perhaps it had something to do with the writing/directing/producing.

Everything here is live, or at least relatively live. If you use the standard type streams in a browser they are usually only delayed by a couple seconds, up to a minute of delay.
If you use streamtorrent (it appears, from what I've used so far) that the delay is even longer than that.

If you watch sports on satellite tv or even HD TV over cable you will notice there are a few seconds of latency involved. The "most live" you can get is standard TV, IMO but obviously the HD is worth it for just a few seconds of delay the picture quality is far superior.

spanish, I simply wanted to sound like a hypocrite.

Yeah veetle is a great site, probably the highest quality from the choices.

In terms of availability, I'm very impressed with myp2p, they have everything I need :o
However when using streamtorrent, the stream is a bit more delayed than with other methods. It's at least a few minutes late maybe even a little more. For live sports that can be a tad disappointing.

Battle: LA is more of like an alien version of black hawk down or saving private ryan. It concentrated on the military side of things. Overall, I think Battle: LA is a much better movie than skyline, even though they are somewhat different genres in a sense.

My video card is a couple years old and only has DVI output, but I got a handy DVI->HDMI cable so I can watch these on my TV. Quality is not that great usually but for the price it can't be beat :)

Thanks for the other links guys, they look really interesting. I got some pretty important games coming up this week in hockey and basketball and some good red sox too so this will be perfect.

Even if the controller is a little outdated it should still work fine for newer racing games.

Try a newer need for speed title, or perhaps a game from the burnout series.

Music - Movies - TV / Watch Sports Live (and other streaming content)
« on: April 08, 2011, 05:18:27 am »
We all know that p2p is a great way to get your favorite movies, music, programs, shows, and many other forms of digital content.

However, the one area where it lacks is being able to watch something fully live. For most things, that doesn't matter so much. But for sports, it matters a lot. The following is a non-comprehensive list of sites that you can use to watch live sports and other live content through streams. We are not affiliated with these websites in any way. If you have more that you'd like to contribute, post here and I'll add it to the list.
