Odd, I've never seen that before. Is it a problem?

Your "3D Websites" seems to be a plug-in, so I guess it's just how well the Firefox part of the plug-in is written and not really Firefox that determines if it'll be choppy or not.

Well I'm actually earning money for the first time and shops are having massive discounts all the time, so personally it's great  :D

I'm applying to a software testing job which I think I have a good chance at getting which will give me a lot more money, so I should be able to to afford a nice apartment near the city centre.

I can honestly say, I have no idea. Reading up, this seems like something that should only affect CPU intensive computing, rather than GPU intensive computing.

Also, it's good to replace your system fans every couple of years. You can pick up 2 good, quiet 92mm fans for less than £10 these days. CPU fans are a bit more tricky, I'd just keep an eye on temperature of your CPU every now and again.

Sucks :(, I got mugged a few weeks back but I pushed them off and they didn't get anything. Apparently there was quite a spate of similar muggings, where people were followed off the metro by a small gang of 18ish year old boys and they'd then get back on the metro in to Manchester.

As for the laptop, looks pretty good and that's the sort of specs you'd expect for that price. Though I don't know how you expect to be able to upgrade the graphics at a later date.

I downloaded the first two episodes but never watched them, can anyone recommend this show? It looks corny.

It starts off a little weak (too much action, not enough plot) but by the end of season 1 I was hooked and I've absolutely loved season 2. I absolutely recommend it.

I went there....but Windows Aero is NOT listed in there  >:(

It isn't included in Windows Home Basic and if you have a Vista which does support it you need a Graphics card with sufficient specs to support it and it's drivers installed.

General Discussion / Re: New Internet in progress

Internet2 is becomming more popular here in the states. Currently only large corporations and various universities are members, my university, being one. If we exchange files with another Internet2 member, it's like gigabit LAN speeds. :p

The Grid is sort of a newer version of Internet2 I believe.

erm not entirelly true. the big companies give a ton of money to the executive and the parties via lobbyists.

Not true at all, the amount of money executives can receive is very tightly monitored, even gifts have to be valued to make sure they fit in with these laws. When The President takes a gift it's often treated as a gift to "The United States" and is therefore valued, sorted and put on appropriate display at some point.

Parties and Legislators on the other hand it's a whole different ball game.

Well they did a report and costing of what it'll eventually take to get most homes in the country at 1 Gbps so it's all under consideration.
