how do i change mp3 audio files to wav files so i can make CD's work on any CD player. I dont want to buy a program like Nero just for their little conversion program. Does Microsoft do one, can I convert them myself, or what?

Try MKW Audio compression tool. It goes both ways MP3 to WAV and vice versa plus some other types.
