Favourite Music Genre
« on: June 24, 2006, 04:48:49 pm »
Thought I might bring this back too.

I will argue all day that Rap and Hip Hop are the same thing!  8) lol

Rock classifies as STANDARD rock, yes I agree punk and metal can be classed underneath Rock.

I decided not to include Alternative because it's too vast

note: If I've missed one, tell me

note2: You may change your votes   :D [although I can't find how?]

Heh, I added Indie. I neeeeeded to have it.  8) :P

Also, the option to allow you to change votes had somehow been un-checked, so I re-checked it.

Where's J Pop or J Rock? Always amusing.
Daniel: "This tastes like chicken."
Carter: "So what's wrong with it?"
Daniel: "It's macaroni and cheese."

What?!? You can't include indie! It's not even a genre! It just says that the band aren't mainstream! They still fall under the category of Rock, Pop, Punk, etc

Sorry, since I'm not a mod on the new fourm I can't re-check it after I edit the poll for some reason...

Lies.  >:(
It actually stems from alternative rock bands with independant record labels, but has become it's own genre.  Anyway, plenty of indie music can't really fit in any other genre.  Try to say otherwise and indie snobs will hunt you down and beat you with coffee cups and Mogwai mixes.  ;D :D

Indie is more specific than alternative, imo.  But it's kinda hard to define.

Plus, it stems from alternative. Rock split, making alternative. Indie became an offshoot from alternative. Music is too vast to be a genre, but there is a big difference between rock and jazz.

And I warned you about the beatings. I've got a brand-new Mogwai album, too. Rawr.  ;)

Man.. I listen to everything.  Mostly some variation of rock. but also folk, jazz, pop, funk, and a lot of indie music.
