Religion and our members
« on: May 02, 2011, 08:50:35 am »
;D First I would like to make this a fairly light hearted topic and not a Bible or Quran thumping debate.
Some of our members come from many different countries and religions, some like myself have no time for hatred towards others.
It would be great to hear what you all think about religion,or maybe don`t give a toss.

I noticed that since religion started that the main goal was to get rid of others that did`nt share your belief`s. The church has been the cruellist taskmaster over many hundred`s of years,death,be-heading,stoning etc.
So why is every church bent on destruction of others.

Give us some feedback. I know most don`t want to talk about religion.( If you speak I`ll answer)

cheers

Yes it is billy, but as I said most people can give their opinion.

To help the Christian folk`s it might be interesting to note that there are over 38,000 denominations of christian churches, including Catholic,Lutheran,Anglican/Baptist etc. Basically from human interpretation over the ages.
We all have our upbringing beliefs, surely we can talk.?
cheers

sorry Tex, I should have made myself clear. I never have believed in religion, even though I was brought up in the Methodist faith. I have nothing against people believing in their religion, as long as they don't try to convert me :)

cheers, thats the sort of feedback that starts. Mainly from where you were born and brought up is usually where we stay. I was brought up with a Presbyterian background, boy`s brigade, etc. then I went to sea and learned what life was about,H`umm. Will go to church for wedding`s,funeral`s but not to save my soul.

cheers

I think religion started simply to try and gain order in society.
You were told you would go to hell if you did bad things and heaven if you done good.

I also think radical religions do more harm than good also.

Possibly danny251,but when we look back at all religions there always seemed to one indivual who ended up with all the money, all the wives, the biggest army and cut yer head off if you said the wrong thing :-X
One wife or 12. Now let me think. ;D

cheers
