All my PC's have donked out.....one has a CPU burnout..i think, one has a blown motherboard....i think, and one has a root file missing 'NTLDR' and wont boot. so i'm using a borrowed PC with ME on,two tiny h/drives, no internet security......i'm trying to put a 40gig hard drive on as slave but the bloody PC won.t find it to format.....so i won't be on much guys until i get a new PC that has fallen off the back of a lorry ;)
you'll have to get tex to come and round and sort them out for you. he's gotten very knowledgeable on these things recently :o
for the PC with a file missing, if you've got an XP disk somewhere you should be able to boot of that, or at least reformat the computer
Tex is learning the hard way, the internet helps a lot and I now have more friends who dabble in pc builds. ;D
Billy, Off the top of my head I would say that a 40 gig drive would be too much for your Mo-bo. I still have an old Win98 in the attic which only had a 4gb hd and was advised that probabably the most I could add would be 10gb .If your running an old me mo-bo then 40gb may not be compatible with your system. Stop drinking Boddies for a week and buy a new one, or better still start from scratch and build your own ::)
cheers

That's simple Billy your BIOS does not recognize the drive, perhaps you can look at the following links to make adjustments on an older PC.

http://www.unicore.com/

Then follow the country support. Me it would be as follows;

http://www.unicore.com/home.cfm

http://www.unicore.com/biosupgrades/

http://www.unicore.com/biosagent/

...and that's all I can write (type) for now to upgrade your systems BIOS Billy.

l've got three h/dv's Dinner 40gig, 60gig and 80gig, the 40gig has got ME on it, that is the one l'm using now. funny thing is, when i look at this h/d in my computer its showing 1.99gig (no lt's not a typo it is that small) where it should be showing 40gig....l been into bios to try to make it see the drive but it still comes back as 1.99 gig ??? l can't put any security on because it says theres no room.
the other two drives have a bad fault on them. when i fit them on here they wont boot..(ntldr is missing) l supposedly formatted the 60 gig but it still says ntldr is missing.....l haven't touched the 80gig drive because all my stuff is on there including my porn ;)
l'm hoping when i get a pc sorted to put that on as slave and save all my stuff.
l tried to sort them with my xp cd in repair but it wont repair them it freezes halfway through.......l can't do too much to this pc because its borrowed.
l've asked both Kyo and Tex to lend me £500 to buy a new pc.......but have not had a reply as yet :'(

Sounds good Chip.
Was reading reviews and noticed that Intel was prefered over AMD on the duo core.
Its long but this a little bit of extra info.
Boasting a slick new look and an array of multimedia features, the HP Pavilion dv 2000z is a traveling entertainment center that is sure to turn heads. However, we strongly suggest skipping the AMD verison of this system in favor of the Intel-powered dv 2000t, which offers faster dual-core performance along with nearly an hour more of battery life.

Weighing 5.3 pounds and measuring just one-inch thick, this HP dv2000z is decked out in HP’s new Imprint finish, featuring a high gloss piano-black lid and a shiny silver-and-black keyboard. Both the interior and exterior sport an intricate embedded wave pattern. The exterior finish is gorgeous, but be forewarned: Fingerprint smudges will stick out like a sore thumb.

Adding to the HP dv2000z’s exotic look is a series of blue backlit indicator lights and soft-touch multimedia player control buttons, including the scrolling volume control positioned along the top of the keyboard just beneath the integrated Altec Lansing speakers. You won’t get outstanding audio quality out of them, but the speakers are good enough to handle everyday multimedia output. The touch pad controller maintains the same aspect ratio as the screen and is comfortably positioned close to the keyboard.

The HP dv2000z’s 14.1-inch widescreen display with HP’s BrightView technology and a resolution of 1280 x 800 delivers a crisp picture, vivid colors, and a great horizontal viewing angle, making it ideal for viewing DVD movies. Dual headphone jacks are mounted on the front of the HP dv 2000 z, so you can share movies and music without disturbing those around you—a nice touch. Here you’ll also find a microphone jack, an IR window, and a wireless on/off switch.

You can view movies and photos and play audio tracks without booting up Windows, thanks to HP’s QuickPlay 2.1 software. Control the action using a credit card–sized remote, which is easily stored in the ExpressCard slot.

An embedded 1.3-megapixel webcam is joined by two tiny microphones along the display’s upper bezel, enabling quick and easy videoconferencing and Web chat sessions. Left-side ports include S-Video and VGA outputs, Ethernet, USB, and FireWire ports, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, an expansion port 3 slot, and an ExpressCard/54 slot. A dual-layer recordable DVD drive, two USB ports, modem, and power jacks are located on the right. The optical drive is a LightScribe drive, which means you can create laser-etched CD and DVD labels using specially coated LightScribe media.

The dv2000z uses AMD’s Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-52 processor, which runs at 1.6-GHz and has 512KB of level 2 cache. You can also get an Intel-based model, the dv2000t, for abut $20 more at the starting price. Our review model came maxed out with 2GB of memory and contained a 5,400-rpm 100GB hard drive, but you can upgrade to a 120GB drive with the dv2000t if you’re a storage hound.

This HP dv2000z won’t dazzle you with stellar performance, as evidenced by its MobileMark 2005 score of 177. The Intel-powered HP dv2000t, powered by a 2.0-GHz Core Duo CPU, turned in a much better score of 221. The Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 video card with 256MB of memory yielded a 3DMark03 score of 1,140, which is about average for a midlevel controller, and as such is not the best choice for gaming enthusiasts. The Intel version of this notebook didn’t fare much better, scoring 1,465.

A battery rating of 2 hours and 26 minutes for the HP dv2000z fell short of our expectations, whereas the HP dv2000t lasted a much better 3 hours and 21 minutes, even with its higher clock speed.

HP preloads a generous helping of home productivity and entertainment software on the Pavilion, including its Photosmart Premiere program, lots of Wild Tangent games, Sonic recording software, muvee AutoProducer, Microsoft Works and Money, and Quicken New User Edition.

The HP dv2000z is covered by a one-year warranty that includes parts, labor, and 24/7 toll-free telephone support. Two- and three-year extensions, ranging in price from $99 to $349 are also available at the time of purchase.

If you’re looking for a middleweight notebook with eye-catching looks and a slew of entertainment features and software, the HP Pavilion dv2000z will fill the bill. But we like the dv2000t better.

Pros

Slick design
Bright widescreen display
Remote control included
1.3-MP webcam
Cons

Mediocre productivity performance
Below-average battery life
HP Pavilion dv2000z Price: $1141.98

HP Pavilion dv2000z Specs

Yeah, its been getting really good reviews.... except that review above was based on the "Core Duo"... and the one I ordered has the brand new "Core 2 Duo" cpu, which is 64bit, and blows away both the AMD's top of the line and the regular Intel Core Duo...     if you're thinking about getting a new laptop, definately check out the dv2000t w/ Core 2 duo and the upgraded 12cell battery for 6-8 hours of usage.. perfect for school or on the road..

Still, It`s a lot of money for a mainline mass produced laptop which in 3 months time will still be satisfactory but much cheaper.
PC`s/ Mobile phones, we think we have what we want until the next model comes out.lol
