No Hard Drive
« on: August 02, 2006, 05:45:23 am »
Has anyone ever got a message like this when trying to install windows?

Quote
Setup did not find any hard drives installed in your computer.

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct.  This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostics or setup program.

Setup cannot continue.  To quit setup, press F3.

I don't know if it's because it's a dell pc or what.  Is this what I need? http://www.windowsxphome.windowsreinstall.com/nohdd/indexfullpage.htm

The problem is, I don't have  a floppy drive...

you probably need raid or sata drivers, at the start of windows it will prompt you to press f10 (i think its f10) if u need to install raid or sata drivers so you'll need to do that to be able to install windows

Thanks for the reply murph.  Are the raid and sata drivers for my hard drive?

Do I need to do something like this:

Or is there an easier way by just doing the F10 option?  But then where would I get the drivers from?

I have the xps 200 is that's any help.  Sorry for all of the questions, but I've never had this happen before so I really don't know what's going on.
