Hard drive overheating
« on: September 27, 2021, 12:30:20 am »
After upgrading my hard drive to a new, 7200 RPM, I've seen it heat up to temperatures in excess of 50C, which bothers me a lot. If I remember correctly, this can lead to hard drive degradation and malfunctions. Honestly, I'm not sure if it will last for a long time.

When the hard drive is under load, this is a perfectly normal temperature. It's fine to 60C, so you still have headroom.

BTW what hard drive do you have? I haven't been using a HDD for a long time. I've adapted to SSD for many years now on every device.
