Where do people get type 1 diabetes from?
« on: June 24, 2025, 11:16:56 pm »
Just so you know, I don’t really understand all these complicated diseases, especially with different types and stages. Can a person get diabetes because they always ate too many sweets? Or how does it work?

Sweets, bad diet, low activity, stress, and mostly the person themselves do not cause type 1 diabetes. It’s an autoimmune disease that just kind of happens on its own. I’ll tell you more. Type 1 diabetes can even happen to kids who clearly didn’t have time to eat that many sweets in life to get such a serious disease. That means even if you imagine sweets causing diabetes, there are special resources for children recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, because for parents of these kids it’s often a big shock, stress, and confusion about what to do next, how to treat or better support the child’s condition. So having special places, resources, and everything else is a big help in those cases.
