Bit Che doesn't work
« on: January 08, 2009, 03:44:05 am »
Hi,
I have installed Bit Che build 60 (from convivea pages), but it doesn't work.
When I try to update scripts, it throws me an error (Connection is aborted due to timeout or other failure).
My internet connection is ok. Every other application works properly. (I have no proxy settings)
When I'm trying to search for something, nothing is being found.
It doesn't do anything at all. I'm using windows xp operating system.
I tried to disable my firewall also, but this doesnt help neither.
I just don't know, what's wrong. Can anybody help me pls?

I found this within another thread with the user having a similar problem as yours

Debug Tool:

1.  Please download the debug tool located here:  http://convivea.com/forums/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1230.0;attach=1043
2.  Run it, click the first 4 buttons, and then press the copy button.
3.  Open Notepad, and press "CNTRL-V" to paste the output to the notepad.
4.  Goto File, Save As, and save the output to a file on your desktop.

Send to me:

5.  Click Reply to this message, then click "Additional Options..."  (below and to the left of the text entry box)..
6.  Use the browse button to find and attach your debug output.txt from above
7.  In the message text entry box, please also let me know what AntiVirus and Firewall you have on your computer.

Thanks!

the support answer was posted by the creator of BitChe,Chip.......
you could re post here after following the process he laid out above or try PM'in Chip.......
I not that good at troubleshooting BitChe as I would like to be but if you post here "Bovski" or "Quantum" may be able to help you further if Chip doesn't respond quickly.....

Ok, here is the output from the debug tool.

I'm using Eset Smart Security (AntiVirus/Firewall).

Hi,

Everything looks normal from your debug log....... and the debug tool was able to successfully connect to the Convivea server, make a HTTP request, and get a valid response. Since you are saying that Bit Che is unable to do the same (updates say connection timedout), then you must look at your Firewall in both NOD32 and Windows Firewall because one of them is blocking Bit Che. A firewall or other security program is the *ONLY* reason why the debug tool can work normal and Bit Che does not, since they use identical internet connection code.

smart security also has application control other than just the firewall, so look really close at that, or if you have ANY other security programs, look at them too..
