Although I do not agree with the argument that oil is a scarce resource (at least yet it is definitely not), I do think it is somewhat of a "good" idea to keep gas prices high in order to deter waste. Oil is a valuable resource which we know will not be around forever, and if it was cheaper I think it would be more prone to waste. High petrol prices force people to think about their trips, carpool, take the tube, and more efficient transportation.

However I think there are some services that rely on petrol/diesel. For example I used to work for an ambulance company that would obviously need to drive no matter what, and increasing diesel prices are just going to up operating costs, and decrease employment benefits for the company.

Do I still think petrol prices are way too high and do I want them lower? Of course.
