How to recognize physical signs of heroin use?
« on: August 01, 2025, 08:44:23 am »
I suspect that my cousin might be using something heavier than weed or alcohol. He wears long sleeves all the time, even during hot weather, and avoids family gatherings. I'm trying to learn what signs to look for. What do track marks look like, and are there other things I should be noticing?

Changes in behavior, isolation, and clothing habits can definitely indicate something’s up. You're right to be alert but careful in how you approach it.

That’s a valid concern, especially with such specific behavioral changes. One important physical sign to look for is injection marks. https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/rehab-blog/what-do-track-marks-look-like/ offers a good visual and descriptive explanation. These marks are typically small puncture wounds, often on the arms, but users may switch locations to hide them. Other signs might include mood swings, sudden weight loss, and unusual sleeping patterns. It's difficult, especially when it's someone close to you. If you decide to bring it up, try to approach with compassion and readiness to help, rather than accusations. Sometimes they need to know someone’s watching and willing to help.
