Suggestions needed for my old pc
« on: May 07, 2009, 07:41:58 am »
;D If you look back to early last year,I started building various PC`s. One of the first was an AGP board 65nm with an i865G chipset on a now very obscure GigaByte mobo.( I am on it at moment) .
The graphics card is very good AGP 8X hightech Radeon X1950 PRO. but I am somewhat limited by the memory slots on the mobo. 266/333/400 dual DDR SDRAM with 4gb max .running 2x1gb 3200 (200MHz) It has a intel core 2 duo E4500 cpu socket 775
Supported FSB 400/533/800.

Would like to change the MOBO to one with better specs. ( it will give me something to do). >:D
There are still a few AGP/ hybrids out there, many at £50 or less with decent FSB/mem.
So if any of you have a spare moment to help in my research, I would be grateful.
Here are some I have found.

You want a board capable of running a Core2 CPU with an AGP slot ... but with better RAM options. I'm shocked you found anything under that combination in the first place  :P
Daniel: "This tastes like chicken."
Carter: "So what's wrong with it?"
Daniel: "It's macaroni and cheese."

;D AGP boards run core 2 quite easily to E7550  and OC. will take quad core ie.Q6600 (but not overclock). If you read some of the posts on above links core 2 seem to be popular. Will check more boards later. I have been running my E4550 on a AGP board for a year now.
