Frostwire

Ok, Limewire/Frostwire is now officially SCREWED - just as bad as Kazaa now (tons of fakes)
anyone got any suggestions into what to switch to?
(note: only using it to get music singles)

I never used it more than a couple of times but Piolet always gets good reviews for singles........Otherwise I'm pretty sure WinMX/patched will give ya good results.........

I havn't been using Limewire/Frostwire much because I was guessing that was going to start getting more attention from anti-P2P........When I do I always use the blitzi option to look up user comments about the file...... :)

Limewire Pro still works ok for me 80% of the time. But yeh some files are flooded by anti-p2p and its obvious to spot as loads come up with the same filesize. Usually the most popular stuff as well.

Which is why I use Ares as my backup. Its looks a bit basic and stuff but gets the job done

I don't DL music much anymore and the latest tune I did DL via FrostWire was "Firestarter" by Prodigy and I had no problems.

Now on a different note my sister uses my PC once in awhile to DL audio files and during a DL if the file is bogus a window will pop-up indicating that the file is corrupt and like Dinner says you can usually eliminate the hassel by recognizing the file size and connection types (their most always the same).

Personally I made adjustments within FrostWire to minimize this and what I did is go to Tools>Options>Filters and within Junk I centered the bal-bar and within Keywords I checked ignore .htm\.html files. EB if you come across bogus files highlight it and click on the Junk icon (trashcan), this may only help a lil' but what more can we do?

Yeah it's only on some songs
But see I'm trying to make a mp3 cd of all the songs played on Rockstar: Supernova (because they are all awesome) but because every song is popular, EVERY ONE had 6000 results (corrupt).

I'll try Ares...

Yep, luckily I can still grab some not so known songs pretty easily  :)

Got some of the songs from the Rock Star soundtrack, loving it!

I installed Ares today and tried to DL a few files from an audio to a video file not to bad. When I can think of a large software file I may need I'll have to try Ares again.

P.S. I'll post a pic of Ares in abit.

Still using Frostwire 4.10. You get used to the files and can usually figure which ones to avoid. Especially the one that have the same 1052kbs for every file and asx files. Ones that dont preview are sometimes suspect as the porn seems to be creeping into everything.(might suit Billy ::))
cheers

Well I'm using Ares now, although it isn't as fast, you grab the file with the most users, never had an issue with fakes. Problem solved imo!

If you need to use a P2P app to find something you can't find on bittorrent, you might wanna look into using the KCEasy client. It connects to Gnutella, Ares and OpenFT.
