I'm trying to work out whether this is spam/scam.

This is for real... Not SPAM / SCAM.
Verification can be made through Microsoft.

It is common for Microsoft to offer students discounts on new products as well as a great idea.
Most students would otherwise be unable to afford the retail price, but all could afford the discounted offer.
Students purchasing the product would then tell others of their positive experience with the product and entice family and friends to make a purchase.

This is a great marketing strategy for Microsoft to get stir up sales of their products.

I did not sign up to this forum to tell you about the Microsoft promotion.
However, I did think it was information that would be of value to others.
If you feel otherwise, delete the posts.
If you feel it is scam, remove me from the forum.
The Bit Che prduct had a link to upgrade to this forum.
Hence my sign up and interest in the upgrade.
Do you require all new signees to justify why they signed up?
Or are you just being defensive that without doing any research whatsoever you accuse me of spam/scam?
I am an IT professional who has been in the business for 25 years and have NEVER been accused of anything but the highest form of professionalism.  I write software, build, upgrade and troubleshoot computers, do training on numerous software applications and run a computer department for a major shoe manufacturer.  If you feel that I have abused this forum in any manner, conduct yourself accordingly.  There are other informative and valuable posts I can make but I will wait for your response before I will contribute or participate in any more posts!

Its just odd that the uk domain was registered to a person from New York using a registration company in Germany for a site hosted in Baltimore

you may have clarified the validity of the site with a  a link to a microsoft referance

Wow this was nothing personal. Think about this from my point of view... someone signs up with a forum designed for a program, doesn't ask anything about that program, instead posts a link about buying a piece of software cheaply. It just sounds like a strange thing to do if it wasn't profitable for yourself?

If I felt that this was spam I would have deleted it immediately, it just confused me, hence the questions.
