I use Firefox because it's so open and when I find a bug with it I can report it and in many cases chat to a developer and they'll get it fixed.

Generally however, browser likes are subjective and down to individual tastes. But there are somethings which are at least partly quantifiable from the browsers:

* General support of a certain set of specifications (CSS2, SVG etc...)
* General speed in a certain category of browser processing (DOM speed, certain types of Javascript speed)
* Effectiveness of the security model imposed

However all of these can be greatly spun one way or another, but with enough objectiveness you can certainly draw some constructive conclusions from trying to quantify them.

Firefox, no contest.
Internet Explorer loads quicker though, and you can edit HTML files in one click (that is by clicking View>Source), so I use it for offline reading and simple web page editing.

That's 2 clicks  :P

And if you want tom edit HTML files, Firefox has one of the most powerful tools in existence for that as an add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843

Any particular reason? IE is a lot slower than the other browsers (even IE8), so it helps web developers if we move to modern browsers like Firefox, Safari, Chrome or Opera. I suggest you have a play around with them, there's usually one people like much much more than IE.

I'm not sure what you mean, but you can probably get an extension for it... https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=auto+complete+&cat=all

A while back I installed Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. I compared all 3 plus IE, and overall I liked the feel of Opera the best. It is fully W3C compliant (like this site is, look at the icon at the bottom of every page) If a site doesn't work properly in Opera, then it's not compliant.

I didn't like the minimal feel of Chrome, and Firefox was just too similar to IE in terms of interface.

Some of the benefits of Opera: Opera synchronize maintains your bookmarks across all devices (my desktop, laptop, and blackberry), Opera was the first to have speed dial (9, or more thumbnails on starting a new tab/page, also Opera was the first browser to have tabbed browsing, and Opera is the oldest and most mature browser of the bunch; started back in 1994. I also like the personal bar of Opera, and the thumbnails of the web pages on the tabs.

More and more browsers are copying Opera's features but Opera pretty much had everything first. If i were to chose a 2nd place I'd say Firefox would be my runner up, I just really dislike chrome and IE. I like the support that Firefox has, as well as the plug-ins. Opera has the most support out of the box (IRC, e-mail, RSS client, and even recently, an HTTP SERVER!) It's arguable that you should only install what you need (like with Firefox) but its more user friendly the way Opera has it and you don't have to worry about finding plug-ins and updating them all the time. I've got enough system resources to spare.

I saw my sister using Flock once, it just looked exactly like Firefox. They say it is for social networking but what are some of the features it has to support that?

Opera Mini 5 beta 2 is by far my favorite mobile device browser. It is REALLY hard to beat it.

Opera on a desktop is not as nice, it does have rendering issues with very few sites since it ONLY follows W3C specifications and will not give in to rendering poorly written code like IE, Chrome, and Firefox. It's more of a stubborn factor but it is one of the reasons why it has such a low market share. If only everyone followed the W3C specifications, the world would be a better place...

P.S. If you would like to check the W3C compatibility of a site you can use this: http://validator.w3.org/ (http://validator.w3.org/) . Our forums are W3C compatible and if you click the buttons at the very bottom right hand side, it should link to the same page. (I just checked it and we are having a few XHTML errors, but CSS passed with 0 errors.

I use Chrome Beta build. I was strictly a Firefox user until Firefox 3.5 came out. I was so disappointed in it. It was slow and laggy. I had tried Chrome before, but always went back to Firefox because of the customization with addons. When Firefox 3.5 came out it was about that time that Chrome beta went to 3.x.xxx.xx and extensions were introduced. There aren't quite as many as FF addons, but it is growing everyday and most of my favorites are there like adblock  and more(plus some new favorites that are Chrome exclusive). Recently I tried IE9 Beta and I really like it. It has much potential. I have also tried the Firefox 4 Beta and it is also very nice. One thing about these browsers though is that they both took a more simplistic look like Chrome, combining buttons and moving the tabs to the top so as to display more of the page. All browsers have their good and bad points. IE is slow, but every site will load on it's engine and it is familiar to all of us. Firefox is very, very customizable and somewhat fast and Chrome is extremely fast. There are other very nice browsers out there like Safari and Opera and I guess it all just depends on what you want out of your browser in which one you use. It's nice to have the options we have today. I remember a time when you didn't have much choice. There are even builds based on Chrome, Firefox and IE that are out there. Enough of my opinion. Happy Surfing!

I have been using Google Chrome for the past three months or so and I have been extremely satisfied with it. Before using chrome, I tried Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox, but both were nothing when compared to chrome. Accessing web pages are very easy with Google chrome and it is very fast. It loads pages within a flash and playing videos on chrome is much easier than on other browsers. Google chrome is the best browser there is at the moment.

Google Chrome is the fastest browser and I find it can handle flash better.
Also starts up really quick compared to Firefox. Just wish Chrome had some of the add-ons firefox has!

I would double check that claim:

A lot of people don't like Opera because it has some compatibility problems with sites sometimes..it follows W3C standard very strictly.

However I've gotten so used to it's interface and speed that on multiple occasions I have tried switching browsers and have never been able to stick with any other browser. I've tried to force myself to use Firefox and Chrome and I always find some annoying quirks that have me running back to Opera. It's all about personal preference, IMO.

They should standardize browsers more so that anybody has the choice to use any browser and they don't have to worry about the site being compatible or not. This problem is much less than what it was 5 years ago when IE was the most popular browser, but it still happens from time to time.

Yes I use it on my Linux machines. It doesn't seem to bad, but the slight changes in interface take some getting used to.

After about 10 years of usage I have finally ditched Opera almost completely since they do not make a Linux version. I still have the new one installed on my windows machine but I'm trying to migrate toward Firefox 100%.
