How do you vet a remote engineering team before hiring?
« on: July 28, 2025, 10:22:41 pm »
Hey folks, how do you check if a remote engineering team is legit? My fitness app needed devs fast, but the first team we picked ghosted us after a weak demo. Total waste. We later found a solid group by checking their GitHub. What’s your process for vetting remote teams to avoid flops?

My online store had a similar mess—hired a remote team that overhyped their skills. Now, we dig into their past projects and do a paid test task to see their coding style. It’s key to chat with them live to gauge communication too. I found some great tips on vetting in this article, read more—it helped us ask better questions. Our current team’s awesome now. How’re you screening your next hire?

Caught this thread while browsing, and it’s super relatable. I run a small podcast platform, and picking remote devs is tricky. We don’t have a set process yet, but last time, we looked at their code samples and had a casual Zoom to feel out their vibe. Some teams sound great but don’t deliver under pressure. I’m leaning toward asking for references next time to get a real sense of their work ethic. Anyone else have thoughts on spotting reliable remote talent? What’s worked for you?
