MSN Security Update and Zonealarm??

 My DSL tech support tells me MSN update 7-8-08 will not allow internet connection while Zone Alarm is running. MSN and ZA are having a pissing contest and MSN is winning.

 Tech support tells me to download MSN firewall for time being...What say??

who is your ISP that provides your DSL service?

and by MSN, that is something like AOL.. a software package that connects you to the internet.. right?


that sounds very very strange if MSN is forcing their software with a killbit to not work if you are using a 3rd party firewall.. and they want you to use their own MSN Firewall? I think maybe the tech was lazy and gave you the short answer..   


if you disable ZA, your MSN will connect? but if its enabled, it will not?  or do you have to shutdown and close out ZA completely before MSN will work?

 The DSL provider is Qwest internet with MSN.

I meant Microsoft update shut down all connections. Won't even let AVG, Spybot or Adaware  connect to gather updates. Had to disable not shut down ZA to connect.

  After tinkering around a bit I can connect to the internet with ZA enabled however I had to lower the security level of the non trusted internet zone section?

 ZA upgrade of 7-15-08 has corrected the problem.
