To our members and guest, feel free to  inform the board on the PC\MAC your using.

Do tell us on whether your using an OEM machine (manufacturer and OS)  or if you assembled your own PC on your own (OS an retail etc.) . Follow that up with all your hardware, hardware specs and your main purpose for your PC, ie. gaming, networking, etc..

I put mine together about a year ago now, little has changed to it, I got:

MSI mobo nForce 4
AMD Athlon X2 3800+
2 x 1 GB DDR 400
Geforce 6600
200 GB Maxtor HDD
250 GB Samsung HDD
19" CRT Monitor

I'm saving up to massively upgrade some time March - July 2007, looking at getting 2 x Quad Core CPU and 2 x GPU with 8 GB+ Ram.

My 3 PC's have all been given to me as faulty......i repaired them and use this one, the others are spares in case this one crashes. they are all pretty normal specs and this is the biggest h/d, 80gig, i don't need any more, as i only use about a third. i have a genuine xp home O/S.
the last thing i bought was a 80gig h/d Sata instead of Ide.....just my latest cock up....he he he.

Size isnt everything. I am downstairs on my old HP 1.3ghz 40 gb 256ram  ATI 9550 GRAPHICS and still able to download at 1-1.2mb (10mb broadband}.

Upstairs in the finishing process is a pentium 4 3.0ghz HT Win XP Home.  Abit n18 sli mobo pci-express. 2x1gb corsair mem cardsDDR2 . Gainward overclocked 6800 gr 512mb pci-e card(soon to be 2) psu 500w soon to be updated.
The Mobo can take up to 8gb ram but that at the moment is frightening. Getting speed tests up to 9,400 at present and this is more than enough for me, Graphic are excellent and downloads are a blink.
I still feel more comfortable on this older unit
cheers

Had it assembled

Pentium 4- 2.4GHz
ASUS Motherboard P4PE
VGA Card GE Force MX440
CD-ROM Drive
DVD/RW Drive
1.5GB RAM
80GB HDD
40GB HDD External
17" TFT Flat Monitor.

Use it for almost everything. Still up and running, but I'm thinking on changing to Pentium D and a new Motherboard plus add 512MB RAM.

Pentium D is crap to both AMD X2 and Core 2 Duo. Wait for Core 2 Duo to come out if you want to go that way, they make the entire Pentium D line obsolete.

They are both duo core Weera. I think what Quantum is trying to say is that the entry level AMD 3800+ does a better job than Intel using 800 series chips. The 3800 is more suitable for quiet office use than the AMD 4800+.
The AMD units are more expensive to buy and use less power than Intel ie.89w for the 3800 to 130w for the pentium D.
Intel duo core are more suited to newer mo-bo`s and the 900 series chipsets. Unless you are a constant pc updater just to be in fashion, take your time and read the reviews. A good quality single PCI-E card on a newer mo-bo and 2 gb ram  is more than enough . Dont spend your money until you are sure what you want and wait till the prices come down.(as they always do)
cheers

you'll have to get tex to come and round and sort them out for you. he's gotten very knowledgeable on these things recently :o
for the PC with a file missing, if you've got an XP disk somewhere you should be able to boot of that, or at least reformat the computer
