i've heard reports that it might work with wine..  but i have no linux platform and no way for testing..

After I'm done bulding my new computer for Vista, I'm going to put SuSE back onto my other desktop. I can definitely test it then.

I'm running ubuntu edgy 6.10..  It installs under wine if you copy the msvbvm60.dll file (which can be found online)  to the ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 directory.   However, I'm having a problem with the search and site list update.. its almost like it doesn't detect the internet connection.  On the other hand, I'm also running ie6 under wine, which works no problem, so that suggests that wine is working ok

interesting.. im wondering if the "mswinsck.ocx" file is being properly loaded..   i snooped around some Wine pages and found that there might be a problem with using that .dll and Wine, but if you get a chance later, can you log the loading of dlls..  apparently something like:

$ WINEDEUBG=+loaddll wine path/to/my/app > log.txt 2>&1



also, i dont know if this would make a difference or not.. but possibly that .ocx isn't being properly registered? dont know if you already tried this:

Copy "mswinsck.ocx" to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32. Then, try registering with regsvr32, with 'wine regsvr mswinsck.ocx'
Then, open winecfg, there search where it says Add application, and add Bit_Che.exe, and make it have mswinsck.ocx and *maybe* winsock.dll  as native library overrides.

just tried this using crossover instead of wine, and it works.  The fonts are a bit unreadable, but I supose that can be fixed somehow.

 Maybe it would be a nice addition though to include an option to have "Save Torrent"  as the doubleclick default action instead of "Open torrent" (like where you have in th epreferences)  since people are likely not to have a torrent client installed under wine..  that way we could save the torrents to a directory somewhere and just open them with whatever we use that's native for linux.

i got it work but you have to install an extra file which can be download from Microsoft website also, can you fix the text problem ( the text is proper small)  on wine

I can change the code a little to allow you to configure the Font Size and even the Font Name to allow for better support on Linux  w/Wine..

oh, can someone write a Guide or step by step for how you can get Bit Che to work on Linux?
